Ladies and Gents, It's over. Put down your flags, return to your homes. The battle is won. The NPD has posted a list of the 30 best selling video games in the first fiscal quarter of the year(January to March, for all you non-financial types out there). We now know what was the best selling 2nd generation Pokemon game remake. And the results will BLOW YOUR MINDS.
That's right: Pokemon: Soul Silver has TROUNCED it's different-colored-but-actually-totally-identical-counterpart Pokemon: Heart Gold. The Silver version was the second best selling video game released in the quarter, while the LOSER version was only the 10th best selling video game during the same period.
This is a victory for all consumers who saw the new Pokemon game on shelves, looked at the two different covers of what are, essentially, identical games and said aloud, "Hey, that shiny, sparkly bird thing isn't doing it for me. But that silver Dragon-bird thing? I'm feelin' that one."
To celebrate this tremendous achievement, I hereby deem it that everyone who bought a copy of Pokemon:Heart Gold be forced to spend the next three months wearing a gold T-Shirt. That way, we can tell who the losers are. This will make those losers much easier to find when we want them to carry us on their backs. And if you Heart Gold purchasers don't like being human rickshaws, then maybe you should be buying the game with the cooler cover art.
Where do you folks stand on the podium? Are you a Silver Winner? Or a Gold Loser?
Thanks to Kotaku for the story.
