Can Pokemon die?

I remember reading somewhere they can't (don't remember where).
But in one of the episodes they say if a Charmander's tail goes out, it will die.

Only thing i can think of is that one cheat on Red and Blue that kills your pokemon and lets him end up in the Lavender tower.

Looks to the left how did GMan get 0 points?

I've always wondered this. Like how do they always "Pass out" Then come back but never "Die"?

They should be able to die. How else do we get fossils of Pokemon like Kabuto and stuff?
If they were immortal, that would suck. They're be an overpopulation of pokemans everywhere. :P

And all children in the world cry tears of sadness at the thought.

Pokemon can die, in the anime series, the game, and in the manga they make references to Pokemon dying.

I know for a fact team Rocket has actually killed Pokemon.

Maybe he made an edit as an admin so he didn't get any points for it?

As for pokemon dieing I have a question. Are ghost pokemon ghosts of dead pokemon? What kind of pokemon would have to die to make a haunter for example? Or does it more have to do with the way they die?

I think Ghost Pokemon are just created for the idea of the supernatural.

I know that When a Pokemon dies it takes on the form of a ghost but not a ghost pokemon.

There are lots of references to pokemon fossils.

Can't have fossils without any dead stuff to be there :|

Because all of them are skilled professionals, and know just how to knock the opponent out, without causing a fatal injury. XD

Yes but there still technically dead before being revived.

I agree with Acer. Reviving something means bringing it back to life so it has to be dead before its alive again.

Pokemon is also a kids show, aimed at younger viewers so bringing death up is not really necessary to its target audience. Its a show were death is not an importnat factor in the overall devolopment of the story but they can die.
