Anybody else hungry after seeing this?
Anybody else hungry after seeing this?

A big 10K light is shining on those silhouettes we showed you earlier this week. The three new starter Pokemon for BLACK & WHITE that had been previously been hidden, that had been blacked out, that had been blocked from view… are now revealed. To the right, you’ll see what I like to call photographic proof positive. A scan from that latest issue of Japan’s CoroCoro magazine ( courtesy of Pokebeach). From right to left, we have Mijumaru the sea otter, Pokabu the fire pig and Tsutaaja the ivy snake, representing water, fire and grass, respectively.

Are they better or worse than what you envisioned in your mind’s eye? Cuter or, dare I say, less cute?

This double spread provides a few more tidbits about the upcoming BLACK & WHITE game. It’s set in the faraway region of Isshu, in Hiun City at times and the trainers aren’t kids in this game. They look like teenagers, by my estimation. There are new attacks called “Claws Sharpen” which raises a player’s Attack & Accuracy and Trickery, which factors your opponent’s stats into your damage output. Also, Zoroark’s shape-shifting ability is called “Illusion” and you’ll get a chance to attack and/or capture a Level 25 version if you trade over your RULER OF ILLUSIONS: ZOROARK preorder tickets’ Entei, Suicune, or Raikou. The "monster fox" will be using "Illusion" a lot in the battle - - it’ll shapeshift into whatever Pocket Monsters you trade over.

Do you think this trio can stand against the nefarious Zoroark? Even if they don't, the rest of the scans are below...

@Halberdierv2:  I do love that hair style and the male actually looks cool this time :)

@Kelleth: i agree about the water starter, looks horrible. the fire one makes me want bacon, and the grass one reminds me of the treecko family a bit.

As for the starters.... uh... yeah they look like plushies...

Let's compare:

Bulbasaur

Charmander

Squirtle

Chikorita

Cyndaquil

Totodile

Treecko

Torchic

Mudkip

Turtwig

Chimchar

Piplup

All of these are cute...
The first three are obviously the best, but if you look at it they are cute and they can also be menacing all at the same time...
The second three: Cyndaquil and Totodile are cute and menacing, just like the first three. While Chikorita is hard to be looked at menacing... so the three are good balance
The third three: Treecko is not cute, he is menacing while Torchic and Mudkip are not seen as menacing... so I guess it's a good combo...
The fourth three: All cute and Chimchar could be seen as menacing sometimes... not as good as the rest...

B&W starters: All cute... Nuff said! -_-

I'll just make a mental note to go with the grass starter...

The grass-type seems to be the better of the 3 offerings...the fire-type Pokabu pig is somewhat forgettable, and don't even get me started with the water-type one. A Sea Otter? Really? What happened to having cool water Pokemon like Squritle, Toddile, and Mudkip?

For once in a long time I'm actually leaning towards picking the male character, though that has less to do with how he looks, than with how the girl looks.

Like in the Diamond/Pearl the grass type one seems to be the best choise among the three. The question is when will be created a more appealing fire-type pokemon like charmander or at least cyndaquil? And the last evolution stage fighting-type is not the answer, like the last two.

I hope they evolve into some badass monsters though. They are far too cutsey for me.

This, because at the moment they look terrible in my opinion.

Yep, grass is still my favorite after the reveal. This will be the first gen I actually start with a non-water type. This will be exciting.

The girl looks.... different from the other girls. She looks a lot less frilly, imo. Her outfit reminds me  of  Miley's outfit on her Party in the USA video.
I like the grass starter the most. It's so cool (even though it is a Treeko clone).

They do look older, which is pretty cool. I wonder of there's a reason for that or they just decided that not everyone in the world is comfortable sending ten-year olds into the wild.

It was hard getting used to the new starters at first but after imagining how they'd look in the anime I've accepted them in my mind. I'd like to go with the grass one but I'll have to go with the fire pig because of my darn pattern. First generation: Squirtle(Water), second generation: (Cyndaquil), third generation: Treecko(Grass), fourth generation: Piplup(Water). Going by this, I have to go with fire pig. >_< Oh well. Hopefully it's second evolution isn't grotesque. >_>
