Pokémon Adventures

With its first volume released in Japan on August 8, 1997, Pokémon Adventures is one of the longest running Pokémon manga to date. Authored by Hidenori Kusaka and illustrated by Mato (volumes 1 to 9) and Satoshi Yamamoto (volume 10 onward), Pokémon Adventures is known for its unique portrayal of the franchise's titular creatures and how they interact with the series' diverse, dynamic cast of human characters. While the first seven volumes were the only ones released in the series' initial run by Viz Media from April 2000 to January 2003, the successful sales of two compilation volumes that were released in October and December of 2006 titled The Best of Pokémon Adventures influenced Viz to begin to release second edition copies of the series from the first volume starting on June 2, 2009, eventually releasing volumes never before seen legally in English outside of Singapore, starting with volume 8 on August 3, 2010.
