This was up awfully soon.

Maria+Holic did get better in the middle, but I do really enjoy the first episode. One Piece is a series that gets better the deeper in you go. I'm glad I started at the beginning when I started watching the real anime. I can say that if you were ever curious about One Piece and didn't want to start in the beginning. Right now, where FUNimation's site is in the airing. Is the perfect time to jump on.

I never got the impression that Kanako was an example of an average lesbian. She more just struck me as the reverse of many male characters. This show is about comedy and not drama. Closer to a parody yuri series.

It is interesting how gay characters are so prominent in anime/manga, but in US comics they are more or less tokens and never have much in the way of story.

I enjoyed Strike Witches partly because of so much of the little tidbits of WWII history littered throughout the run. I believe Francessca Lucchini is actually 12 in that series. It all reminded me of these novels by Harry Turtledove. He did novels about an alien attack during the WWII era. There was a tiny mini bike seen in Charlotte's room in episode 7. That was a real bike given to paratroopers in case they fell too far off their target drop zone. Even some of the stories actually do have some reality based examples.
I don't remember them going to school. They had some training missions, but that was because Yoshika was new.

One thing that confused me about the Wolverine Origins movie was that they advertised Emma Frost in the commercials, but she was only in the movie for maybe five minutes. They even made her Silverfox's sister.

Oh yeah, she was ripe with failure.

BTW, here is my dramatization of my Wolverine Leak Conspiracy Theory.  Can you handle this much truth?

I love how I can hear this podcast in the Lead and Gold: Gangs of the Wild West Quick Look and vice versa.

@John_Martone:

 Ah I'm glad you remembered when I talked about Ghost Stories like 10 episodes ago. The basic premise of the show is kind of like Scooby Doo but with grade school kids and the monsters are actually ghosts from Japanese mythology (mainly) and the group of kids are sort of tasked with exorcising the ghosts. Anyway ya it apparently bombed in Japan, which is how ADV was able to do what they did since the licensor was like dude just make it sell, the only thing they couldn't change is the basic plot and storyline since than the animation wouldn't make sense.

Oh and the crazy hardcore Pentacostal Christian (originally a psychic) character is voiced by Monica Rial not Wendee Lee.

Here's a 9 minute clip of it. (skip the first 20 seconds) *Warning if you are easily offended don't watch this*

Oh and as for Sands of Destruction since the DS game it's based on is a throw back to the 32 bit era of RPGs particularly Xenogears. In fact it's directed by the same guy who made Xenogears and like that game it's pretty heavy on the drama, while at the same time having a bunch of ridiculous comedic bits thrown in.

From what I've heard of the anime though it seems to have a strange start seeing as instead of having a certain scene with Kyrie that kind of establishes the whole premise they have Morte with that weird black ball and she just happens to find Kyrie by accident. In the game it's much more apparent why Morte takes Kyrie with her and their is no magical widget that Morte is carrying around. Oh and I'm curious how good the music is in the anime since it's one of the highlights of the game for me done by Yasunori Mitsuda. If you do plan on trying out the game though I will warn you the battle system is not the most intuitive and actually if you don't customize your characters in a certain way than you are probably going to have a really hard time of it. Oh and also expect really terrible voice acting in the game (which kind of fits with 32 bit era RPGs) the worst offender I would probably say is whoever plays Rajiv. Actually what's funny is the voice I've liked the most so far is Felis Rex and Rhi'a even though I only get to hear Felis Rex a couple times and Rhi'a like in two scenes so far. It's unfortunate that they couldn't get the same voice actors from the anime because man some of them are really bad.

(I'm really bummed the guy who plays Taupy in the anime isn't in the game since the guy in the game sounds like a bad more grizzly Whiskey Nerd*)

I remember a rule about watching new animes is that don't judge a anime by 1 or 2 episodes.

BTW since Strike Witches did well when it came out people here made a fanclub not just for the fan-service.

hahaha! Ahhh I am amused, good stuff.

PS. I hear lots of talk about various Abridged series with one exception, that being DBZA. Is no-one a fan of Ghost Nappa? Abridged Popo is nothing less than terrifying.

What people have to take into account when watching the YuGiOh Abridged series is that it was the first Abridged series around. it wasn't till the Naruto and the others  that they started to get really good at this stuff.
@FLStyle:
Mr Popo says we don't talk about that..
