In the hopes of bringing back some show notes to the format, I've been tasked with jotting down some SoC dribble, and then link it up to high heaven.

The podcast was enjoyable this week. I ate a sandwich, Gia brought snacks, and Ana talked at great length about her love of dioramas. While this is being written entirely from memory, which fades like a the flame of a match these days, I remember distinctly covering a couple of topics. (with links to pertinent topics)

What did we watch/talk about?
The cool quirks and flaws of the characters of Soul Eater (Link)
The nationality of the illegal immigrant character in Sayonara Zetsubo Sensei (Link)
Maria+Holic: My love and AHR's first opinions (Link)
What the appropriate conversational gender of mechs are (ala, "She's a beauty," in reference to one's car)

What else did we talk about?
How Sakura-kon has awesome guests and how they will be debuting the Trigun Movie, as in... the world premiere. (Link)
Twilight manga. (Link)
How LiveJournal communities are accusing Nick Simmions (Gene Simmion's son) of plagiarizing Bleach in his US published comic. (Link)
Gia gave out our mailing address.

What did we eat?
Whatever it was, it was tasty. I'm sure Gia'll bring it up, but it was some sort of chocolate-cake like, with a white chocolate topping/shell. Well, that's all I've got. Check out some links for a frame of reference, and Hope you enjoy the show.

Requests
OH, and also, I'm supposed to tell you to start sending us (in comments, emails, whatever) questions you want answered. I can't tell you how we're going to use them, or if our answers will be correct, just that we're going to do "something" with them.

There you have it, hope you enjoy it. Oh, and spoilers, Gia forgets to repeat the address

I feel special.  :P

I was reading about the Nick Simons thing earlier today and I'm baffled how close his panels are close to Bleach.  Hopefully more on this issue will come soon.

I've already mailed things to both Comic Vine and Anime Vice.

Soul Eater is a pretty good series.
Kid, in his first adventure even leaves his partners in danger to fly all the way back home to check the symmetry in his house.

I don't know if there is ever a definitive answer on Maria from Sayonara Zestubou Sensei. Much in the same way they never really explain where Kaere comes from. To listen to Maria, she is from a country that is war torn, impoverished, and possibly overpopulated. Images of it in scenes from the anime seem to imply desolate.

If you just think that Mariya is an evil person. It shows you need to watch further. I see Maria+Holic as a parody of yuri/cross-dressing series. One such example is the series Otome wa Boku ni Koishiteru. It is about a young boy, Mizuho, who is given a last request from his grandfather to dress up as girl and attend the school his mother went to. Out of loving respect for his grandfather he reluctantly complies.
In Maria+Holic. Mariya is going to the school dressed as a girl due to some last request made by his beloved grandmother, but...in the very next beat. Masturika, Mariya's maid, points out that even without that request he would still dress as a woman. It makes you think that he's only doing this out of love for his grandmother, but really. He just likes cross dressing.
I don't think Mariya sees what he is doing as perverted. There is nothing sexual about it. It more feeds into his own arrogance about his looks.

That has got to be the worst summary of what One Piece is about that I have ever heard, Gia.

The funiest thing happened to me while listening to the podcast....

I had the podcast on while doing a bunch a stuff... so my 3 year old girl cousin came over and sat next to me and "listened" to the podcast with me...

Now she does not speak english, so usually when I'm watching/listening to something in english, she asks me "Que dijo?" ("What did he/she say?")... and usually I would give her a bridge version of whatever happens...

So she's "listening" to the podcast with me, and then Gia starts to talk about the boob pillow... and then she asks: "What did she say?"... As a response I said "She said something in english.." and apparently she was okay with that response....

I got to be careful where I listen to the podcast!

Saw ANN and livejournal ablaze with angry Bleach fans when I got home from school today...and with the image comparisons out there, it's pretty not to believe that he copied of of Kubo Tite. As for Maria Holic, I do recall it being amusing. The jokes were hit and miss -- though I don't really get jokes half the time anyways, so I shouldn't be trusted on that. However, I loved seeing Mariya manipulate pretty much everything to fit his agenda.
