One day I'm sure I'll be able to time my commute home to see this live.. maybe.

"We haven't even got to boy street!" Best line in the podcast.

Also I have to go with John, if it's good than I'll dig it even if it is shojo.

BTW Ana, while I'm not from the States I have found that many Americans that live in the northern States particularly around the East Coast can be just as devoted to their love of hockey as us Canucks. (The slang term not the team, I'm more of a Sens fan.) Also hockey is more popular in Hokkaido than it is in Honshu, it's just there is not as many people up there.

Also curling is a way less popular sport internationally than hockey. Hockey would have a broader appeal. In fact curling, while having originated in Scotland is actually most popular in the land of hockey. (it probably helps that most of the population can eventually trace their family history back to Scotland) I actually played it for over 2 months back in high school regularly as it was an activity we did at the local curling arena in grade 11 phys ed from January almost into March.

Oh and BTW if the amount of different hockey leagues versus curling leagues in Japan is an indication my proclomation that hockey is more popular than curling also stands for that country.

Edit: The Doctor is just called The Doctor, John. Doctor Who is the name of the show not the character.

  1. What's bad about Princess Mononoke?
  2. I don't know how anyone could not realize that The Doctor is just called The doctor. His name (title?) is said at least 10 times an episode!
  3. It's easy to point out the stupidity of John. I want to point out, though, that AHR (?) mispronounced Hanamaru Kindergarten
  4. I didn't read the 4/20 post about anime, but what about Gankutsuo: The Count of Monte Cristo? the ending theme alone is wild.
  5.  I didn't watch the AMV in question, but I think that part of the AMV AHR mentioned near the end of the podcast involves Pearl Jam's Jeremy, which is based (loosely, I believe) on a real kid.
  6. Speaking of lesbian alien women, have any of you watched Vandread?

@YotaruVegeta:

1. It's more direct and preachy than the other HM works (that' I've seen).  Also none of the characters have complex or engaging personalities, with the exception of that cool Iron Lord lady.  Also, and this isn't HM's fault, the english dub is truly awful, with bad performances from celebs instead of real voice actors.

3.  I freely admit that I have no ability to say Japanese titles correctly.  I'm lucky if I even get the first two letters of the name right.  You will see this inability further manifest in every episode of TrailerBlast. But this is what we have Gia for!

And finally, here's the AMV i was in fact thinking of, that does not feature Jeremy:

This video still rules.  When GodLen originally posted this on AV, I had commented the video would also have been good with Jeremy.

I'm not someone who "sees the light" (or darkness)  of a film or show until I've watched it again or someone discusses it in depth. I bet it's gonna be a bad day when I watch Avatar again; I already groaned at the blunt references to historical racism and imperialism when I first saw it.

Don't  worry. i listen to a handful of anime podcasts, and you are by far better at pronunciation than some of the worst offenders. Let's not even talk about comic book/video game podcasts and their Japanese pronunciation; I just wanted to give Jon some kinda win. After all, he's in a nightmare harem! ;)

That AMV is pretty cool. I'm not in the habit of watching AMVs. Love the nod to MiraMax! The way those scenes are cut together, you could put the song "Jeremy" over it.

Just wondering - what was the name of the manga that was mentioned after Blue Drop? The one about the guy who goes to high school but looks like a girl?

I made a mistake when I told them it was a Hind-D helicopter....it was a Black Hawk helicopter that appears in HEROMAN, the Hind-D appears in Metal Gear Solid.
YotaruVegetaon April 24, 2010 at 3:54 p.m.
Yeah man, MGS Solid was the first thing I thought about when I heard the words Hind D. haven't heard that in a long time.
