Squadcast 27: Featuring the King of RPGs
John and Gia sit down with manga expert (and manga creator) Jason Thompson to talk about his upcoming project, King of RPGs (due out from Del Rey in January), with added doses about the latest in manga kiddy porn in court, the appreciation and/or appropriation of Japanese pop culture, and manga orcs. Yes, manga orcs.
Squadcast 26: Return of Squadcast
Gia's back at the Whiskey Media office, which means back to all that nice, fancy, delicious sound equipment. Which means: more podcast! This week John hosts and the gruesome twosome dish on all the latest gossip and fun stuff.
Squadcast 25: It's My Party
Surprise! Gia and John are joined by Tony "G-Man" from Comic Vine and head programmer Ethan for much discussion of sex, lies, and anime.
Squadcast 24: Leaving On a Jet Train
John is wistful about playing Tetris with boxes in Gia's car, while Gia makes butt jokes. Occasionally they talk about anime, too.
Squadcast 23: Laborious
John berates Gia for her slacking off during Labor Day weekend, and catches us all up on some of the latest news and fun stuff.
Squadcast 22: It's Not the End of the World
Gia and Dawn debate over ADV's demise and (sorta? kinda? maybe?) rebirth, KumoriCon woes, TOKYOPOP, Kodansha, giant fire-breathing babies, and considerably more.
Squadcast 21: Nothing Rhymes with Yaoi
Gia, Dawn, and Naomi chit-chat about the latest topics. Somehow a lot of yaoi comes up this week. We also celebrate the Squadcast's "21st," and promise that it will be the last time we make a big deal about our age. Well, except maybe for when we reach 100!
Squadcast 20: We're All Growed Up!
Gia is joined by Dawn, fresh from her Dark Horse visit, and GodLen, who's really excited for One Piece, to talk about all the latest otaku gossip!
Squadcast 19: It's a Quake! Con!
Gia, Dawn, and Naomi gossip about CNN, terrible Dragonball: Evolution music videos, Astro Boy, and more!
Squadcast 18: Barely Legal Edition
And by that I mean, the podcast is now barely legal, at the tender age of 18...the people on it long since bypassed the "barely legal" limit, as it were.
Squadcast 17: We Survived Comic-Con
...And all we got was this lousy podcast.
Squadcast 16: Oh God Comic-Con is Hot
Dawn, John, and Gia plot their evil Comic-Con schemes, and blather about other random things while sitting around in their jammies. True story.
Squadcast 15: Congasm
Dawn announces the Dress-Up Contest Winner, and she and gia tease Naomi for not going to Comic-Con while ruminating on their con plans. Of course, Gia is the only one going to Otakon, so...
Squadcast 14: Dress Up Dawn Contest Edition
Gia, Dawn, and Naomi start off commentating on Expo cosplay, then move into the latest news. BONUS: Be our first user guest-- help us decide what Dawn should wear to Dance Dance Kumoricon!
Squadcast 13: Anime Expo or Three Busts
Gia, Dawn, and Naomi ponder their perfect convention guests, their preferred anime TV channel formats, their picks for the summer anime season, and all sorts of other on- and off-topic blather. Dawn almost made it through the podcast without mentioning House!
Squadcast 12: The Real Cowboy Bebop Blues
Gia, Dawn, and Naomi tackle the live-action Cowboy Bebop remake, have varying levels of excitement for Ponyo, and once again settle on the topic of rape games.
Squadcast 11: The Live-Action Akira Wake
Gia, Dawn, and Naomi discuss the potential merits a live-action Akira film had and whether or not they're sorry to see the project go. Plus, speculation on what might have been, ha Gia added Dawn and Naomi to her Class of Heroes party.
Squadcast 10: Tentacle Training Litterbug IV and More
John, Gia, and surprise guest Jack chat about E3 games and more while sipping tea and scones.
Squadcast 09: OBJECTION! Edition
John and Gia talk A-Kon and a wide variety of legal issues. PS, we are not lawyers.
Squadcast 08: Vice and Wolf
Dawn, Naomi, and Gia are joined by GodLen and John Martone for some good old-fashioned podcasting fun, now with 100% more new Haruhi and Spice and Wolf licenses. And plenty of off-topic-ery to go around.
Squadcast 07: F!@#ed Up Figures
Gia, Dawn, and Naomi talk about the good, the bad, and the ugly in figures and merch. Oh, and car insurance...?
Squadcast 06: Porn, Porn, Porn
Between the video game sex tease and the Masturbate-a-thon winner, this week's podcast is a little dirty. But we do also talk about gender divides and live-action anime movies! And masturbation aids. You've been warned.
Squadcast 05: Death Note and Dating
Everything you needed to know about the upcoming Death Note movie, how real life is not like a dating sim, and how Kodansha is moving in on the American manga market.
Squadcast 04: Gundam in America, TOKYOPOP in Japan
The Vice Squadcasters dish the dirt on worldwide simultaneous Gundams, on TOKYOPOP selling their manga to unsuspecting Japanese readers, and we ended on a note of not-so-silence reflecting on Central Park Media.
Squadcast 03: The Future!
Gia, Dawn, and Naomi discuss the future! From the possibility of simultaneous manga releases, to Rinne's similarities to Bleach, to the possibility of a new anime magazine.
Squadcast 02: Happy Stories, Happy Endings
The Deborah Fourzan saga ends happily, a Twilight anime is rumored (but debunked post-podcast)...and then there's Tentacle Grape.
Squadcast 01: Obama Porn and Comic Anthologies
Gia's cohorts Dawn and Naomi introduce themselves, and we chat about a variety of news topics from the site...and whatever else we feel like.
This Week's Podcast

Squadcast 28: We Got a New Office!

Ethan joins Gia and John to celebrate the opening of Whiskey West, our new office, and talk about streaming anime on the site.

There's a Viewtiful Joe anime? That's a new one on me.

Shame on you Gia for jumping a head with Saki episodes! Love John's idea, which I will name the "Spoilerific Saki Squadcast." Alliteration ftw.

I'm completely up to date with the current Naruto manga chapters and Shippuuden episodes as I'm sure quite a number on AV forumites are so I'm good on that front thanks.

Great podcast, enjoyed it lots.

PS. Any chance of calling one of the plants "Floppy Tits?"

i actually used to know how to play Majong (when i was like..6 @_@) and i can't believe i completely forgot how to play. Saki is interesting, but i just can't follow it T_T

@AjayRaz: Ohhh, if we could show Fairy Tail I'd be doing it already! Unfortunately it's only available to paid users, and them for only 30 days, so it's not on my list of embeddable shows. :)

This was the first Squadcast I've listened to in many months - I mainly tuned in for the office and streaming parts of the conversation - and found it to be alright. IKEA furniture *can* be frustrating to assemble but it's not impossible.

I haven't been following along with the "X-a-day" posts but I could probably keep up with Eyeshield 21 (FOOTBALL!!) if that were to be picked as a future featured series. Gintama is a nice show, as well. However, both go on for 100+ episodes so that could be a test of endurance for whoever's put in charge of writing the related posts.

Re: Crunchyroll streaming under the Videos tab - I noticed that some of the newer simulcast episodes such as Tegami Bachi ep. 5 show only the first 2 minutes and then a prompt to sign up for CR Membership appears - the same way it happens on CR's own site to non-subscribers. Is the addition process too automatic, like through an RSS feed or otherwise, that it would be unwieldy to denote when such episodes would become fully available? This isn't a major concern to me - more of an observation - and it would probably be more work than it's worth to put dates in descriptions only to remove them a week later. A better solution could be waiting until a simulcast episode becomes broadly available but that might depend on AV's relationship with Crunchyroll.

Finally, the first plant names that came to mind were Twiggy and Palmer. Not great. I hope better names than those crop up!

@CalAggie: Official word from Ethan is that there will be a way to denote that "someday." :)
