Japanese animation company founded in 1979.
The studio behind some of Japan's biggest anime hits, including Naruto and Bleach.
Founded in 1979 by former employees of Tatsunoko Productions, Pierrot is considered a specialist in the magical girl genre, with popular series like Creamy Mami and Tokyo Mew Mew under its belt. However, its most well-known individual series are mostly shounen titles: Naruto, Bleach, Urusei Yatsura, and Yu Yu Hakusho.
The company's name comes from the comedia del arte character of the Clown, often named Pierrot; as such, its logo is a clown face.
