For example, I appreciated the influences from American crime films in setting as demonstrated by the opening sequence in the mansion that very much resembled the conclusion of Scarface. They even had a long shot with someone's body floating on a pool with an overhanging globe bearing the words "the world is mine."
I noticed that too! Forgot to bring it up. I almost thought this was supposed to be some veiled spin-off, like they were assigned to kill Tony Montana.

Man, if ever a show needed a bigger budget, Noir is probably it. Or at least someone directing who knew how to make a small budget work.

Bah. Noir was perfect the way it was. The atmosphere created by the music (one of my all time favourites in anime) and the cinematography was just right . The story could've used some honing I guess, but it didn't stop me from enjoying the series.

But anyway. An anime that sounds interesting yet I haven't watched it? How can this be. This must be remedied.

Just finished watching this and...damn.

But I guess I did enjoy it to some degree. I kept hoping the main character would just kill everybody - that would have made the series so much better.

well the first episode was interesting.  Not sure exactly where this is supposed to be set.  Are they in LA and moved to japan at the end?  The girls looking out the windows like they were noticing something was happening was odd.  And the bodyguard was a bit to much a friend of the rich lady given the stuff she does.  But I will enjoy seeing the intangiblies come back to bite the scientist in the butt.  Deny the power of morals to long...and you loose.
