He is a shaman who is one of Hao Asakura's followers and he is a ruthless person who treats his own teammates like dirt and objects.

He is a shaman from Mexico and his spirit allies are his Mariachi band.Their names are  Carlos, Juan, Antonio, Jose, Pancho, Miguel, and Zapata.

Censorship: His dub manga name is Telocote to avoid a drug reference to Peyote.

Character Creation

Peyote Diaz, who is created by Hiroyuki Takei, has no information on what inspired the author to create him.

Story Arcs

He makes his first appearance when Hao shows off his followers to Yoh in volume 9. Peyote's first battle is in the Shaman Tournament where his team, Earth, and team mates BoZ fights team Ren, Ren, Horohoro, and Chocolove. When Chocolove makes Peyote's spirits laugh, Ren takes advantage and defeats Peyote easily.

In volume 17, Peyote has his second battle where he fights along with Mohamed and Zang-Hang. He impales Ren with his attack, Fantasma Grande.

Peyote uses Caravera dolls and the unconscious bodies (IE: BoZ in his first match) for his spirit medium. Calavera dolls are skeletons of Mexico which are symbols of death.  These dolls appear on the Day of the Dead and these dolls are friendly and cheerful.

He demonstrates his shamanic oracle which he learns from Ultra Senji Ryakketsu.

Technique

  • Fantasma Grande - an oversoul attack that is made up of five Mariachi players.
