The series follows various people in modern Japan who are related to a series of assaults by a bat wielding young boy on roller skates. The attacks are investigated by two detectives who drive the deeply surreal story forward.
Many attacks in Musashino, Tokyo are being caused by what seemed to be a young teenaged boy using golden roller skates and a bent golden bat. Detective Keiichi Ikari and Detective Mitsuhiro Maniwa take to this case knowing it to be a most dangerous case and that they'll be risking their lives.
After the first victim, Tsukiko Sagi, there are many other similiar attacks. Indicative of a serial attacker. However, it would appear that many of the victims actually seem glad that they were attacked. Indeed, the circumstances of each victim's life favours them having been attacked. Leading the detectives to question whether the victims have been attacked... or saved!
