What did you think of the latest season from Gainax?

Personally I loved how wild and crazy they took this series, as well as the nods to many of the West's popular series and other cultural bits.  At the same time, I felt it was one of those series that you had to turn your brain off for a bit, as trying to understand how their universe works will probably hurt the point of the show in general - to just show you two crazy angels that just do their own thing, eventually ending up saving the city when it is in need of help.

Then again, I am not exactly a typical anime viewer, so for all the users here way into Anime in general, what did you think of it, as well as the ending of this season?

I had a fun time watching the series.  I was excited for this show ever since the art style and concept reveal and it managed to live up to close to a year of hype.  I hope this gets picked up and licensed quick, although I doubt we'll see this for a few years.

I thought the last episode was cool, but not as good as some of the previous ones.  The part at the very end...

I disliked the show from the beginning.
I believe this was a mistake by Gainax, the time and budget (though I can't see it being to large) should have went to support Anno in his NGE rebuild endeavor, or for a second season of Hanamaru Kindergarten.
I think it likely Gainax did this show as a commentary on anime as a whole, also to test how far they can push the envelope in the same spirit as FLCL, or possibly to see how little thought and writing they can put into a show and still make cash.
Since I am a Gainax fan I want to believe the former, but fear the latter to be true.

The end after the credits was predictable.
Regardless I'm looking forward to what they plan to do next season.

The latter is a bit rude just assume the latter, as this is a parody driven show it needs lots of thought put in to it to work. Gainax didn't go half-ass on that.

@Kelleth:  Nope, he didn't like it so the show was nothing more than a cash cow with Gainax half-assing it the whole time. Fact.  The correlation between the two is so obvious, how could anyone question it?

@sickVisionz:  Well If you put it like that, I guess you got a point lol

@Kelleth: It seems evident to me that it is true, when you compare works like Gunbuster and NGE to this. As I said, they either did this to push the envelope of anime.
However Gainax has a habit of doing things solely for cash, iirc they went against Anno's will and made GB plinko machines or something.

@hitsusatsu11:  It's a fun show, not everything has to be serious. I enjoyed to the very end of the 13th episode and had my mind fucked over willingly.

You think it was a mistake, by why is it wrong for people to create something fun, they put a lot of time and effort into it, even if it has a almost powerpuffgirls type style, everyone I see watching it seems to like it for what it was, I think you were expecting to much out of a relaxed and fun show.

I enjoyed the show, but the ending was a bit "What the fuck..."

Well the ending is an EVA parody, so yeah.

It was an okay show, but just okay. The artstyle gets in the way of the more techincally impressive moments, most of the jokes are juvenille, most of the themes are over used to the point of  nauseum  and most of the character/monster designs aren't very good.

But it has it's good moments. The Transformers episode was good, the Saving private ryan cum sprites was good, the "WE'RE ALL GOING STREAKING!" episode was good...It's just not as good as some of their earlier stuff. And it's DEFINITELY not as good as Dead Leaves, which is what this show seems to be trying to mimic.

It was average. 6/10. There were better shows this season. Also...

I always turn my brain off when I watch anime.  If a show requires me to turn it back on, chances are I'll have a lower opinion of the show.  I very much enjoyed PSG this past season and am looking forward to the next.  The second to last episode strayed dangerously close to becoming maudlin by deconstructing every outrageous principle the show had established in the prior 10 shows, but it returned toward the 2nd half of episode 12 to the selfish arrogance that make the characters appealing.   PSG is among my favorite shows (of the shows I've seen) this past year.

I've always been a fan of anime but I'm usually a casual watcher.    This is one of the first animes I've watched in a long time.   And It was one of my favorite things ive watched in a while.

The more off the wall the story the more I usually like it.   Which shows in my taste in games as  No More Heroes, Bayonetta top my  list of games that I enjoy.

I don't think this show was meant to be torn apart on a granular level.   Its very  shallow but at the same time damn entertaining.     The only parts I thought the show fell flat was in some of the movie parodies.   Especially the 3 part "Chuck to the future"   that was the worst the series had  but then ironically enough saved that episode from complete fail by having a amazing AMV bolted on to the last 6 minutes.

Which brings me to my next point... the OST.... IS.....AMAZING.     I like many other people have had Kanye West's   new CD in and as far as I'm concerned that was the best CD of last year....  until I listened to this OST.

I've listened to it on repeat more times than I can count.

So yeah, PSG is awesome.
