Ouran High School Host Club News

Ouran High School Host Club is a franchise comprised of 2 anime series, 3 manga series

Recently I finished watching Ouran High School Host Club. It was up on Netflix, so there was nothing to loose, you know? I didn't think I was going to like OHSHC. It seemed like another cheesy shojo anime, which I'm really sick of. But in the end, I found that I really enjoyed this anime. I characters were really interesting, and I found it to be legitimately funny, although I can't say that the plot sounded intriguing.

I was recently talking to my friends about OHSHC, and they said they weren't interested. They didn't think that a girl gets caught up in a high school host club anti-harem sounded interesting. To be honest, I thought that kinda sucked as well. But my one friend told me that it was totally worth it. Really, in the end the plot totally sucked, but I still wound up loving the series.

Probably what I loved most about OHSHC was the characters. Haruhi, was just okay, and I think that's what the point was. She served her part as 'that person' which creates motion in the series. Tamaki was really funny and over the top. Hunny was waay~ too cute, and Kyoya was a really interesting character. But my favourite characters was the kind hearted yet serious looking Takashi and the twins. Takashi and Hunny's relationship was really adorable, and I don't know why but I loved them so much. In the end, I freaking was obsessed with Kaoru and Hikaru. They were really funny.

But despite all that I didn't like the end. At. All. It was really lame, and lacked substance. They really rushed it, and they made the series too serious. I mean, come on, it's a comedy and comedies have happy and funny endings. The last 5 or 7 episodes were really heavy and serious, I got sick of it quickly.

What were your thoughts? DId you like the anime? Have you watched it? Favourite character(s)? Thoughts on the ending?

At one point or another a person becomes...well obsessed with anime or manga. That's just how addicting it is. And whether you like it or not, you start to pick up some of the vocabulary like titles [Oniichan, Baka, -san, etc] to greetings and thank you's. But are there other things we tend to pick up?

When I first began watching anime, and reading manga, there were many pictures or scenes where I would find myself thinking, no one really pushes up their glasses right before they make a snide remark, or give a small laugh at how ridiculous the person is being. And it's not necessarily just for people with glasses, the ones that don't just cover half of their face and give that small smile that can go one of two ways. Then of course they flip their hair as they look up, and-or just continue on their way. It all happens in just about EVERY series (or at least out of all the ones that I've seen.) And as I was growing up and noticing more of the world around me, I watch how this small personal habit made it into the lives of everyone I knew. Whether or not they watched/read the Japanese growing media.
Kyoya [OHSHC]

But the fans seemed to have it worse.

When I brought this up with some of my friends, most of them gave me the excuse "We only do it, so when we cosplay we can be in character and get the moves right." But even after a con, they'd keep up these habits. Pushing up the glasses, giving the snide smirk, patting people on the head, even using the same "comfort lines" over and over again. But no one wants to acknowledge it yet, at least no one around me. After 5 years of being an anime/manga fan, I can honestly say, I can't watch an anime without seeing one of my ex-boyfriends, or even friends in it and not getting a bit annoyed.

-I realize this is a bit short, and I wanted to go on, but after three days of trying to word this correctly and get what I wanted across, I gave up, and this is all I could come up wth, there may be more in the future otherwise this subject is over for now >_> -

Some Anime Items for Your Christmas List

Seems FUNimation got some new merchandise into the US market and someone at their offices made a video showing off some of the new stuff.

  Capsule Corp. Hat
 Capsule Corp. Hat
The FUNimation blog went on to say that there was a list of new wall scrolls he didn't mention in the video, and I really couldn't find what they were referring. Some of these items look pretty darn tempting. The one's I'm liking are probably the Capsule Corp. Hat and the Soul Eater Book Mark. I just wish they were offering that Capsule Corp. Hat in different colors than white. Maybe more of a baseball cap style, as well.

I do have to add that I'm just astounded that only now are they officially offering a Luffy's Straw Hat. It looks nice, but I'd prefer one made of actual straw. The Alphonse Ski mask looks like something someone would try and commit a robbery with, but I say that about most themed ski masks.

Though this video was a bit vague on where you can get all these items shown in this video. Not all these items were available from a single site. I did some hunting for you users and found which site is providing which items and the current price they are offering them for. From the prices I found, Rightstuf seems to have the better deals.

Well to begin i should explain what this is about if you are so courteous as to read i thank you!
I have decided to begin a regular blogging process where i document a new series i have been watching or an impression of a charcter from a series.
Today i decided to blog about 2 series i recently experienced.
The first is Hajime no Ippo, and i call it this because i prefer the sub and dislike the name fighting spirit considering Hajime no Ippo means "The First Step" and The name "The Fighting Spirit" is clearly a maketing scheme Grrrr.
There are a few main Points i'd like to each will be subtitled so feel free to scroll to a section you want to read.

Hajime No Ippo

That goosebump feeling

When i watch this series i just feel so inspired to do great things, whether its become a boxer or not, the feeling is directly reminiscent of my first viewing, or more precisely every viewing of Gurren Lagann, i love an anime that can give me that inspirational feeling, its my favourite emotion to feel, i love being completely in awe of something.

The Kamina-Takamura Connection

Anybody who has watched both gurren lagann and Hajime no Ippo surely knows what i mean, the main reson is the contant switch in personality from loving brother like figure to teasing brother like figure, believe the similarity is there.

Getting the nerd into boxing

To be honest this is kinda streching the truth, i mean it is a suprise for me getting highly into real boxin however i was never not into sports, but seriously this has really got me interested in taking up boxing as a hobby at uni.

Musical Score

The final Point i care to raise about this anime masterpiece is that the music really builds to an intense and emotionally satisfiying atmopshere how else can i describe it?

Ouron High School Host Club

Can dudes enjoy this without being weird?

Now i should raise the point the only reson i even gave this series a look was because in one of Mr Crispin Freeman's panel's he said he was really liking and i respect that mans opinion, so ye i watched it and you know what, at  first it creeped me out entirely especially the twins, but once i got past the point where it was completely freaky i saw how clever the story was told and how ingenious the humour was, a great watch really, i would say guys beware you in for a scare but if you can take it keep watching.

To be honest thats all for Ouron, just wanted to get that off my chest really :) goodbye and stop by again in the future!

This is going to be harder when I start running out of pictures. But I got tons laying around. So each night I'll show you a new one and you tell me what you think.
I'll try to tell you as much as I can about the person and the con, but mostly I want to have fun at it so... here we go.

As some as you can tell, She is doing a cosplay form Host Club. It ways really fun to get a shot of her she jumped on a chair and pose for me with that lovely rose. A bit out of focus but one of my first shots. Taken at Tulsa Mini-con 06.
