1000 Pages of Tezuka Erotica (Warning: Nipples!)

So goes the title of a new Osamu Tezuka book that's just been released in Japan (well, it's literally Tezuka Osamu Erosu 1000 Page). It's being published by Studio Voice Comics and edited by Rumiko Tezuka, the same daughter of the God of Manga who also took part in the book Gegege no Musume, Rerere no Musume, Rarara no Musume, featuring tales from three daughters of prominent mangaka.

As for the book, it's a compilation of Tezuka's more sexualized pages throughout the years. Those familiar with Tezuka's work know that beyond titles like Princess Knight and Astro Boy, his work could be darker and in some cases much more sexually charged, such as MW and most notoriously his animated film Cleopatra, which was released in the US as Cleopatra: Queen of Sex and self-rated "X" (although it probably wouldn't have earned one if it had been submitted to the MPAA).

So, what do you folks think? I'd be really curious to read through the book, but I wonder if it was awkward for Rumiko Tezuka to be working through her dad's erotic materials-- and I wonder if some readers wouldn't feel like they were doing the same!

I would actually be really interested in reading this and comparing it to current hentai manga series-- we always talk about how Tezuka has influenced so many mainstream mangaka these days, I'd be curious if he had as strong a hand in adult materials. Like, tropes, character archetypes, that kind of thing.

(Warning: Nipples) should be used in more things, even if it isn't relevant.

*Remembers the rape scene and subsequent sex scenes in MW*
 Huh.

Commenting on the Cleopatra video:

-  @3:44, the soldiers marching through their spoils was clever.

- and @5:20, this movie clearly doesn't take itself seriously.  No one would think that cigars, let-alone tobacco, let-alone lighters! existed in this time period!

Since Rumiko's childish interest in kissing and boyfriends was one of the ongoing topics in Tezuka's family-life manga Mako, Rumi & Chii,  it seems she was almost born to write this book!

Interesting. I need to read more literature on Tezuka's private life.
