Orihime Inoue is a friend of Ichigo Kurosaki, and with the power of the Shun Shun Rikka, which is able to reject reality itself.
Orihime Inoue was born to a drunken father and a prostitute mother. When her older brother Sora turned eighteen, he ran away with the then three-year old Orihime, in the hopes of providing her with a better life, and to keep her away from her potentially abusive parents. She was then raised by him until his death when she was nine years old. After that, she met Tatsuki Arisawa, who would become her best friend, and Ichigo Kurosaki, who she would fall in love with. She also learned how to live and fend for herself during the next few years, with the aid of her friends.

She also wore a sweater in the one-shot, which was scrapped for the final series. According to Kubo himself, Orihime's theme song is T'en va pas by Elsa.
She first appeared in the finalized version of the series is in BLEACH Volume 1, CH. 2 "Starter", and her first anime appearance was in BLEACH - Episode 2 "The Shinigami's Work". Her character in the Japanese series is voiced by Yuki Matsuoka, and the U.S. dub produced by VIZ Media is done by Stephanie Sheh.

" Kurosaki-kun, you know I had a lot of things I wanted to do... I want to be a teacher... I also want to be an astronaut... and also make my own cake shop... I want to go to the sweets bakery and say 'I want one of everything'... Ohhhh, I wish I could live life five times over. Then I’d be born in five different places, and I’d stuff myself with different food from around the world... I’d live five different lives with five different occupations... and then, for those five times... I’d fall in love with the same person... "
Orihime Inoue - BLEACH Vol. 27 Ch. 237
Orihime Inoue is an energetic and almost childish in her innocence. Her most prominent features are her long orange hair and ample breasts. Among the main cast. she is one of the only members who doesn't have a regular outfit. Instead opting to wear more casual clothing styles. It's her innocence that seems to allow her to trust in people and she doesn't like seeing anyone hurt, friend or foe. At times, she has rushed to heal enemies before herself.
Orihime has always been too bashful to admit her feelings to Ichigo, and has learned much of his tragic past through her best friend Tatsuki. She was bullied in school of her hair, but hid it from her brother. The guilt of her last words to him being in anger was a deep source of pain for her growing up without him. being able to give him a proper goodbye to his ghost was a great sense of closure for her. Though she highly respects Rukia Kuchiki, she is deeply pained of her own jealousy that Rukia can influence Ichigo in such a profound way. She frequently wants to help in battles, but is always worried she will be a burden. It's her source of self doubt that is her greatest hindrance since her posers are based upon her emotional conviction.

After the seventeen month time skip in the series, little has seemed to of changed in Orihime. Her hair seems longer, and the style is different. Outside of school. she got a part time job at a bread shop, and her proficiency with the Shun Shun Rikka has seemed to of improved. Her feelings for Ichigo proved to be even stronger than the mind control powers that manipulated her memories. Seeing Ichigo in pain was enough to weaken Shukuro Tsukishima's illusion.
Orihime first appeared during the Agent of the Shinigami arc as just another classmate of Ichigo. She was introduced to Rukia, when Rukia noticed that she had claw marks on her ankle. Later, Orihime's deceased brother Sora reappears as a Hollow named Acidwire, and fights with ichigo. He is about to wound Ichigo, when Orihime takes the attack in his stead, and tells her brother about her love for him, and that she stopped praying for him because she didn't want him to be so preoccupied with grief, and that she wanted him to hear about her happiness instead. This enabled Sora to regain his humanity long enough for his soul to be purified and sent to Soul Society. However, her memory was adjusted so that she wouldn't be able to recall the incident.
Later on, she appeared again when Uryuu Ishida lured Hollows to Karakura Town. She faced the Hollow Numb Chandelier, and awakened the powers of the Shun Shun Rikka. In essence, the power of the Shun Shun Rikka allowed her to reject reality in several ways. By using the offensive capabilities of the Shun Shun Rikka, Orihime was able to destroy the Hollow and rescue Tatsuki. Then she, alongside Sado "Chad" Yasutora, is taken aside by Urahara to discuss her new powers.
As one of the few people who still remembered Rukia, Orihime felt that it was her duty to help rescue her. So, she and Chad began to train their powers with Yoruichi Shihoin. Although Orihime was having some trouble with her power, she remembered how she felt protecting Tatsuki, and was able to use her power once more.
Then, Orihime, Chad, Ishida and Ichigo all go into the Dangai Precipice World that connects the worlds of the living in the dead. Despite the fact that they might be noticed, Orihime made use of the Shun Shun Rikka to protect herself and her friends from the Dangai Cleaners residing within the tunnel.
Later on, when the group enters the Seritei through a kido ball, Orihime is blown away alongside Uryu once the ball disintegrates, and manages to cushion their landing by using the Shun Shun Rikka. For the remainder of her time wandering the Seritei she spent a good deal of it alongside Ishida, when the two evade the notice of Kenpachi Zaraki. They steal Shinigami outfits from some weak Gotei 13 members and continue to search for Rukia, unaware that they are already being followed by Mayuri Kurotsuchi, who takes an interest in Ishida.
Orihime then shields herself, Ishida, and a weak member of the 11th Division named Aramaki from explosions caused by Kurotsuchi. She and Aramaki are then spotted by Yachiru Kusajishi, the Lieutenant of the 11th Division, and are brought to Kenpachi Zaraki for questioning. Later, she travels upon Zaraki's back alongside Yachiru to rescue Ishida, Chad, and Ganju Shiba from their imprisonment.
Later, Orihime finds herself able to detect Ichigo's reiatsu, and find him during his battle with Byakuya Kuchiki. She decides to stay with him despite the danger, and tearfully speaks to him after his victory.
After witnessing Aizen's betrayal of Soul Society, Orihime stays there for a week alongside her recuperating friends, and discovers that Rukia will not be returning to the human world alongside them. Finally, Orihime enters the Senkaimon alongside her friends, and bids the Soul Society farewell.
After the happenings in Soul Society, things seem to be back to normal in the human world, when she notices that Ichigo's Substitute Shingami badge is reacting to the presence of a nearby Hollow. She, alongside Ichigo and Chad, excuses herself to leave school. It then reveals that a mysterious figure has been following them.
The next day, a new student named Shinji Hirako is introduced in class. Then, after school, Orihime meets him again, with a new pigtailed girl. Shinji is pleasantly surprised that she would remember his name, but the pigtailed girl berates him for his behavior. Orihime tries to learn what the two were previously talking about, but only overhears Hiyori's name.
Later, when two Arrancar by the name of Yammy and Ulquiorra arrive in the human world, Orihime attempts to run from them alongside a weakened Tatsuki, but is stopped. She then uses her Shun Shun Rikka to heal Chad's injuries from fighting them, and also attempts to protect Ichigo as he fights them, but succeeds only in damaging one of her Shun Shun Rikka, Tsubaki. She then becomes injured heavily before being rescued by Urahara and Yoruichi.
Afterward, a group of Shinigami is deployed to the human world, Rukia among them, and she makes Ichigo apologize to Orihime for his rash behavior. Meanwhile, as the Shinigami distribute themselves amongst various homes, Rangiku Matsumoto decides to stay at Orihime's house alongside her Captain, and the two talk about Orihime's growing feelings for Ichigo.
Orihime also looks for Ichigo during his Vizard training, and is able to deduce the power of the barrier guarding the Vizard base. She is also able to easily bypass the barrier, greatly impressing the Vizard Hachigen Ushoda. She then informs Ichigo of Aizen's plan, which she heard the Shinigami discussing earlier. She is then asked not to participate in future fights, due to her lack of offensive ability.
Rukia then offered to help Orihime train in Soul Society. The two spar together, aiming to improve, and Ukitake, Rukia's captain, notes that it's a good thing that Rukia has made a friend.
However, Orihime's ability doesn't go unnoticed by Sousuke Aizen, who sends Ulquiorra to take Orihime to Hueco Mundo. Before she leaves, however, Orihime is allowed to say good bye to only one person. She chooses Ichigo, and is about to kiss him, when she stops, crying. Then, she leaves for Hueco Mundo.
The Shun Shun Rikka (盾舜六花, Six Flowers of the Hibiscus Shield) are six spirits embedded into Orihime's floral hair clips. By combining the spirits in various ways, Orihime can "reject reality", meaning she can undo certain events or happenings. Her power is affected by her willpower: the more convinced of something she is, the more powerful her power is, and vice versa, hence why her offensive capabilities are much weaker than her other abilities.
The Six Shun Shun Rikka spirits:
Orihime can make use of three abilities that utilize the Shun Shun Rikka:
Orihime made an appearance in the anime, with the same story as she does in the manga. However, in the anime her eyes are silver or gray, while the manga depicts them as brown. Otherwise, she remains largely unchanged in the anime.
Orihime has appeared in two Bleach films, albeit in a minor role.
Orihime has been in every Bleach video game made to date. She usually appears as either a healing support character, or a main character using her Shun Shun Rikka.
