One Piece recently sold 300 million copies in Japan alone, and apparently Viz media has it at 345 million worldwide for more than 25 different countries. Also, manga sales were up more than 6% in the U.S, with the release of Attack on Titan and rerelease of Sailor Moon as key contributing factors. Thoughts anyone?

I'm mostly just surprised that Sailor Moon is still holding out so strongly in the U.S o_O

Don't underestimate Sailor Moon. Their fan base is large just like the DBZ and One Piece fandom. I should know from my experiences at the Kodansha Q & A Panel at Anime Expo 2013 with Ben Applegate addressing so many Sailor Moon questions.

300 million copies in a country with a population of around 130 million. Strange.

I don't get why people love One Piece that much. Sure it's a good manga but there are a lot of good manga out there that don't get half the attention One Piece does.
