It was almost one year ago that I shared with you the news that Eiichiro Oda's blockbuster manga One Piece was going on hiatus before it's two year time skip. Well, I'm back again with more news for you. Just as the Dawn Island Arc has been slowly winding down to grand finale of the first half of the One Piece tale. It's been officially announced through Shueisha's V Jump magazine that this October 2nd (October 1st in the U.S.), the Straw Hat crew will start to reunite for their journey to the New World (the second half of theGrand Line).

The first episode of One Piece aired on October 20th 1999, and Mayumi Tanaka has been voicing Monkey D. Luffy ever since. Despite aging from 17 to 19, Tanaka will be continuing her role as Luffy. What's most surprising is that it seems the official promotional images for the time skip show no re-branding for the now 500+ episode series, unlike Dragon Ball Z and Naruto Shippuden.

FUNimation has been simulcating the anime ever since Episode 391, and this October 1st at 10PM should be an anime event not to be missed. It's hard to image a better time to hop aboard on this adventure if you've ever been curious. If you're interested in seeing how the Straw Hats were first separated before you watch their reunion. In related news, One Piece Volume 61, that began the time skip, was released in February and had printed 3.8 million units for the first run. According to the Oricon sales data, it sold over 2 million copies in three days. A record that was later broken by One PieceVolume 63 by printing 3.9 million. In fact, Volume 63 sold more units in one week than any manga since Oricon began tracking manga sales in 2008.

Cannot wait, I hope they keep the filler to a minimum. The show has really been hurt by it over the last couple of years.

@FoxxFireArt: Were you watching the same One Piece as I was. They stretched chapters into full episodes, Thriller Bark and Impel Down were unwatchable because of that.

@FoxxFireArt: I'll admit that my standards are probably too high, but that doesn't excuse all the Coby and Buggy filler that enthralled the Impel Down and Whitebeard War arcs. I know all about the Daddy the Father stuff and that Oda had originally planned on mentioning Shiki the Golden Lion in the manga when Shanks and Whitebeard met before Ace was captured. That kind of stuff I'm in love with!

I would much rather have four episodes of filler that tell the cover stories, which are increasingly becoming more important to the plot, than six episodes of Buggy and Mr. 3 escaping Impel Down in a "laugh-a-minute" fashion.
