Trafalgar Law’s pal really shouldn’t be the one called ‘Joker’ in this whole arrangement. Yeah, I’ve brought this up previously but, with each successive episode, Caesar Clown’s similarities to that Ace of Knives just pile higher and higher. Now, he’s got a whole array of creatively-designed, gaseous poisons in his arsenal? How long before we see the one that makes its victims keel over, laughing hysterically, until they die with permanent grins on their faces?

I’ve half a mind to joke about this episode getting guest-directed by Tetsurō Araki of DEATH NOTE and ATTACK ON TITAN, what with all the diagrams illustrating our heroes’ plan of attack. Sure, Oda’s done it before on his own, but I find it rather consistently amusing how anime has freer rein (and a greater desire?) to use the same storytelling techniques as a PowerPoint presentation.

Honestly, I’m trying to think of what happened in this episode, and I keep getting a mental image of the graph of all this compound’s various chambers...

Well, that and the various Marines going full-out ‘Pompey’ after Smiley breaks in… and Chopper’s cute scampering. More so the latter than the former, actually. I could watch like that cute lil’ critter do anything and I’d still be consistently entertained. Has he ever gotten the spotlight in a one-off special like the feudal Japan one I watched a while back? Seriously, if Oda hasn’t done something that could be titled “LUFFY’S FAVORITE DOCTOR, TONY TONY CHOPPER,” then he seriously needs to.

Watch this episode, "Tashigi's Tears! G-5's Desperate Breakthrough Plan!!” here and decide for yourself, then read my comments about the previous episode here.

Well they definitely took steps to make Chopper look increasingly cute/moe as the series progressed. Almost all the pics that I see of Chopper from recent One Piece episodes is of him in brain form wearing that goofy hat. It's like Oda found less and less reason to use Choppers other forms and turned him into a moeblob.

I'm still only at around episode 280 myself so I can't really say what they did with his character, but I can't say I like Chopper's current super cute appearance. He was cute enough when he looked like:

I remember a couple of filler episodes that foussed on Chopper, and he gets his own fights and spotlight in most arcs. His recruitment arc is one of the best as well.

@AURON570: There've been very few battles for the whole crew since the time skip. Chopper has used his other forms though, but just like in the early series brain point is his most used form. I don't think I've seen him use Scope since Alabasta strangely enough though.

Chopper has had the spotlight on a few occasions. He's easily the youngest member of the crew. At this point in the story, Chopper is 17 years old. He was 15 when he joined the Straw Hats. He's had his own battles that have been pretty epic.

Much like Rock Lee, Chopper has his own manga spin-off called Chopperman: Yukeyuke! Minna no Chopper-Sensei. Unlike Rock Lee, this hasn't been turned into a separate anime. There have been occasional anime special episodes of his superhero persona of Chopperman in the ONE PIECE anime.

The ninth movie of the ONE PIECE series was actually a dramatic retelling of Chopper's introduction to the story. ONE PIECE EPISODE OF CHOPPER PLUS: BLOOM IN WINTER, MIRACLE SAKURA, which was released in 2008. Chopper's voice actress, Ikue Ōtani, is also the voice of Ash's Pikachu and Konohamaru from NARUTO.

If you want an arc that focuses on Chopper. Watch the Drum Island Arc (Ep. 78-91). That's when he joined the crew.

This was actually the point in the story where the G-5 turned for me. I found them mostly annoying key-stone cops-esque characters, but I have to respect the guys for giving up their own lives to save Tashigi.

Honestly, I’m trying to think of what happened in this episode, and I keep getting a mental image of the graph of all this compound’s various chambers...

Doesn't that tell you that the graphs are doing their job?

It actually frustrates me that we still don't know who threw that note to Chopper -- even in the manga story. Oda normally doesn't leave gaps like this. It couldn't have been Law. He needs his Room ability to use his powers, and he was being watched by Caesar, Vergo, and Monet as the cage was being put outside. Knowing Oda, there has to be a reason for some later reveal.

@FoxxFireArt: I think the reigning theory is that Absalom, under his Absa reporter alias, was on Punk Hazard and was the one who threw the note and did other little things like make sure Law was put in regular chains.

@Username_Undefined:

That would have meant he knew Law's plan, but Law was just as surprised to see that report of his alliance in the paper. Also, that Thriller Bark ship was seen leaving the island Eustass Kid and the rest were on. How could he have escaped Punk Hazard, that was covered in poisonous gas; and made it to that island, when Eustass' alliance summit was taking place at the same time Punk Hazard was being covered in the Shin no Kuni gas?

Whoever threw the note must have also known that Law had some other way out.

@FoxxFireArt:

Those are good points. Honestly, I don't let it bother me. Oda will explain it eventually and someone else will make the connection, at which point I'll go "huh, I'm still amazed at how Oda ties everything together"
