You can now have your wedding aboard the Thousand Sunny. Don't tell Hancock!!!

--

Huis Ten Bosch Theme Park
Huis Ten Bosch Theme Park

Who needs Vegas or conventions anymore of your wild themed weddings? We now have the Huis Ten Bosch theme park in Nagasaki Prefecture, Japan. For the past year they have had a special cruise attraction that allowed guests to ride a life sized, working recreation of the Straw Hat Pirates' ship, the Thousand Sunny. This ship reportedly has a working Gaon Cannon that it fires, a souvenir shop with exclusive merchandise, statues of the Straw Hats for photos, and an aquarium bar. Admission for adults is ¥1,000 and children under 4 are ¥600 yen. The cruise lasts for 20 minutes.

The latest ONE PIECE Ch. 668 that was released this week included an announcement that starting June 1st people could now register to have their weddings aboard the Thousand Sunny cruise that Huis Ten Bosch holds. Since the advertisement talks about having your wedding "with the Straw Hats on the Thousand Sunny". It makes me wonder if there could be actors to officiate, or are they just talking about the aforementioned statues. Luffy is the captain. I guess he would have the authority to marry you. Just don't let him anywhere near the buffet table.

Since the ship's capacity is rated at 250 people (not sure if that includes staff), you could have quite the blow out for your wedding. No real word on the cost of this reservation. Would any of you like to have your wedding aboard this ship of dreams?

The Straw Hats finally break into the New World, and Naruto makes nine powerful friends in this month's releases.

Today is the Japanese release date for two of the big Shonen Three volumes from Shueisha. Though, by this time it was yesterday for them. Ah, the thirteen hour time difference.

Included in the release is ONE PIECE Vol. 66, which contains Chapter 647-656. This concludes the Fish-Man Island Arc, the first arc of the post-time skip era; and begins the latest Punk Hazard Island Arc. It's been great having Smoker and Tashigi back in the story. NARUTO Vol. 60 was also released, which contains Chapter 566-575. This continues to Shinobi World Arc arc, but Naruto has made a groundbreaking change in his relationship with the Nine-Tailed Fox and learns his true name. BLEACH Vol. 55 won't be released in Japan until June 4, 2012.

With VIZ Media's initiative of increasing the publication of these two series, buying these translated in the U.S. shouldn't be that far off. With all the issues I have with some of their publishing and editting practices, I have to applaud them for this.

I've been wanting to make this inspirational-based graphic for a while now. This volumes was released in Japan back in February of last year. The sales of this volumes shocked a lot of people. Japan has a company that tracks all media sales in country. In three days of ONE PIECE Vol. 61 release to stores. It sold over 2 millions units in only three days. That isn't counting the sales for the rest of the week or month. What may surprise many who read this is that these numbers aren't that surprising. ONE PIECE sells millions of copies in a matter of days every time a new volume is released. Every volume since Volume 61 has sold two million within a week. It's the biggest selling manga in Japan right now and blows away every other series in sales. Tell me the comic publisher that wouldn't kill for those kind of sales.

In what is my first report-like blog, I am reporting an update to the upcoming One Piece: Pirate Warriors game that launches in Japan this March for the Playstation 3. Not entirely sure if this will ever see a US release as of now, but at least we can hope. Information below taken from CrunchyRoll (all respective rights reserved).

"The latest info on One Piece: Pirate Warriors ("One Piece Kaizoku Musou") hit the Japanese interwebs on Famitsu today, so we have some new screenshots and details about the story mode.

One Piece: Pirate Warriors (PS3)
One Piece: Pirate Warriors (PS3)

Story mode is called "Main Log" and features narration by Mahito Ooba (who has also provided other One Piece game narration and played some TV anime roles). There are two types of stages, Adventure and Musou. Adventure stages task you with using Luffy's Gum-Gum Fruit powers to overcome various obstacles, while Musou stages are battle-centric."

As a fan of both One Piece and video games, there is a part of me that hopes that this promising One Piece game does eventually see a release in the United States. It would be a blast to play as various members of the Strawhat Pirates from their adventure and battle against the fearsome Arlong and crew (Arlong Park Arc) to what appears to be the end of the Enies Lobby ordeal (Enies Lobby Arc) in the fights against the powerful CP9.

One Piece Vol. 52 JPN (Dec 2008)
One Piece Vol. 52 JPN (Dec 2008)

BIG things have happened in the One Piece volume pages!!

In my quest to strengthen the wiki of Anime Vice to be a force in manga and anime to be recognized. I've done a wide level of updating. My most recent project was to update the cover images for One Piece the manga, from Eiichiro Oda. I've already completed the profiles for Luffy, Nami, Nico Robin, and I'm working on Roronoa Zoro. All of these character profiles are now more detailed that Comic Vine's Superman profile. His movie appearances are more filled out than his own comic story line.

Well, as I was looking through the manga volumes of One Piece. I noticed that some cover images were either incredibly small, poor quality, or still only had the Japanese release when they had been published in the US years ago. I made a project of it this weekend to go through and make sure each volume had a good quality Japanese cover image, and I was able to find some very good quality pictures for the US covers to be the main image. Though, Amazon.com's picture quality dropped after on all the volumes before Volume 21. I'll have to do a bit more hunting through Google searches to find better quality for Volumes 1-20 US covers, but that shouldn't be too hard.

The lion's share of the work is done for all the current 63 volumes of the series. I put those pictures in the franchise page, and in the Volume image gallery. That's something I don't think enough users are doing. It's great to add image covers, but if you don't link those pictures to either the Volume page's image gallery or the franchise page. You can't find them in image searches. They only stay in your image gallery and can't be spread out to use in editing wiki pages.

Only a day has passed since I announced that I have updated the BLEACH franchise page on Anime Vice. Still, I have yet another wiki update for the site. I had been meaning to work on this for some time, but I also got around to updating the One Piece franchise page, as well. If you were to drop by there. You could learn about the history of the series in manga, anime, and movies. You also might be surprised how many of the films for this series exist but only one has been brought to the U.S. I think I'm really tuning in on a good template for the franchise pages on Anime Vice. It strikes me as odd how the work I've done of the site has turned into a almost standard for so many other wiki editors.

While working on this blog post. I examined my image gallery and noticed that for the One Piece series I've uploaded over 3,100 images. My current wiki points total is at 614K.

I really do find manga to be the most amazing thing ever.
You may think to yourself why, or why? isn't anime superior to manga? Is it not much cooler to see the stories you like animated?

Well allow me to rant about why i find manga so amazing for a little bit.
The short version would be this: Because manga has this magical ability to make absolutely anything, and i mean  anything interesting enough to actually care about.
I was never a big fan of sports, especially not american football. That is until i started reading Eyeshield 21. Seeing the main character evolve from a scared servant to those stronger then him type of character into one of the worlds best athletes was really something. And the manga even thought me the rules of american football in the progress, made me understand why people enjoy the sport in real life.

Recently i have been getting into this manga about climbing. Yes climbing, of all things. Sadly i lost its name and i cannot find it again but from what i read i was really motivated to see the main character climb a new challenge and see how much he enjoyed it, see how it changed the character as a person in a good way and how the others around him reacted to it.

You can take almost any topic, hobby, sport or any such thing and there will probably be a manga about it. In manga the hardworking people that draws and creates the story put real passion into showing their characters. You can feel the passion for what they wish for in the manga you read, you can relate to characters trough events or how they react trough different situations making you become closer to that character. Trough hard determination and will power you see your favorite characters overcome obstacles and grow trough their experiences.

Of course there are drama manga that can be really sad as well. I have found that some of these taught me a bit about myself as a person, who i sided with in the story and who i cared for in them refined myself as a person in a way. I will mention Saikano as one of thees. It is the saddest manga i have ever read, it made me cry several times, especially the ending.
Even though i would never find myself in a similar situation i felt for the characters as things got worse and worse in it. Another perhaps more well known manga like this would be Elfen Lied. Who is the real monster kind of story through and through, i still find the ending to be dumb but still.

As for why i prefer manga is because the mind, your mind makes the scenes that play out in front of you just like you want yourself. But then comes the anime and you are disappointed in one way or another. It could be anything from animation style, hair color to voice actor. It is rare i am 100% happy about an anime version of something i have read as a manga but it happens. One Piece is fairly true to its source material however there are some changes that are annoying and some voice actor choices did disappoint but most of it was spot on from what i imagined. However the fights were animated way better then the way i had imagined they would be so that is also a plus.

But overall i do still prefer the manga version of things, its paced the way you like it yourself, and well the manga usually have more attention to detail where anime has more attention to animation. I am by no means saying my opinion is the only one which matters, this is all just my opinion and i know people will disagree with me but this is just a little about why i like manga so much.

One thing i do love about anime though is how a character you have grown to like in a manga may be even further developed as the result of anime episodes that deals with things not in the manga, some people hate fillers like these but i enjoy them, seeing something that is not mentioned in the manga and such. Again there are exceptions, i dont feel Bleach handles fillers very well for example but i did enjoy the Zanpakuto arc where the swords all had personalities and all that. One of the biggest offenders of this is Katekyo Hitman Reborn, removing entire arcs and characters and pretend they dont exist.

Well that about wraps it up for now, just felt like writing about why i like manga so much. If anyone reads this feel free to comment or mention why you dont like manga, prefer anime, agree or disagree with me. Til next time good people :)

EDIT: As Tubutas was nice enough to tell me the manga about the climbing is named Kokou no Hito .
