Finally we get to see a trailer to the newest One Piece film, One Piece: Strong World with actual clips from the movie, instead of storyboards and static shots. What makes this film different than the usual anime film cash cow is that this cash cow is overseen by Eiichiro Oda himself. He created this film’s story as well as sketched out the characters and the setting for this film personally.

I’m surprised about this movie though, I for some reason was expecting this film to be about the Straw Hat crew being Marines, because the concept art looked like it was heading in that direction, and maybe It still is, but the trailer didn’t give me that impression. Nevertheless I’m super gomu gomu no excited about this film, and hopefully it will get extra special attention by FUNimation so that we can see it as quickly as possible.

I have just recently started to pay real attention to this series (finished the skypiea arc the other day) and I have to say this does look exciting. The Oda involvement is quite apparant when compared to the other movies. I'm wondering though, since the series is so long and ongoing, is it worth it to watch the series after reading the manga, or should I just stick to watching movies like this only?

@AgentJ:  Well it's up to you, if you have the time and you have the desire then go on ahead. It's nice to see things in motion, though the manga is nice by itself as well.

I might not bother then. By the way, that lightning god guy was a gigantic douche, and one of my least favorite characters ever.

@AgentJ: I would stick to the manga. The anime has some pretty slow pacing, since it has to stay behind the manga, and a lot of times it kills the sense of urgency - especially later on.
