Nutal is the son of Dr. Subari and is one of the only remaining humans on the Armored Planet. He is from the Galaxy Express 999 anime series.

Nutal is an armored man who lives his life trying to find sacrifices so that he and his father, Dr. Subari, can stay alive.

The citizens of the armored planet were originally kindhearted people who didn't want to see the weak preyed on by the strong. To make this a reality, they covered every life form on the planet in armor. While this indeed protected the weak, it led to a situation where no animal was preyed on and all life on the planet began to wither away due to a lack of food sources.

Nutal was designed and created by Shingo Araki and Shigeru Kogawa during the late 1970s. He appears in the Galaxy Express 999 series, which was created by Leiji Matsumoto, creator of the popular Captain Harlock franchise.

Major Story Arc

The Armored Planet

Nutal finds Tetsuro wandering across the Armored Planet and attacks him, hoping to sacrifice him in order to extend he and his father's life. Tetsuro escapes and Nutal returns to his home. To his surprise, he sees Tetsuro there speaking with Dr. Subari, Nutal's father. Dr. Subari begs Nutal to let Tetsuro live but Nutal refuses him, going as far as kicking his father when he tries to restrain him. Nutal chases Tetsuro and eventually catches him, but is shot in the leg by Maetel when she appears at the last second to rescue Tetsuro.
