Nuru

Origin

Nuru is one of the many members of the New Fish-man Pirates, led by Hody Jones. They hated humans and anyone who sympathized with them. He trained to fight with a sword and wanted to become a number one ranked sword fighter.

Creation

Nuru is an antagonist in the One Piece series that was created by Eiichiro Oda. He's an anime filler character that made no appearance in the original manga that was the inspiration for the anime. The One Piece anime series first began airing in October 1999, and Nuru wouldn't appear until the Fish-Man Island Arc that began in Episode 517.

His first anime appearance was in One Piece - Episode 560 "The Fierce Fight Begins! Luffy vs. Hordy! ". His character in the Japanese series is voiced by Katsumi Suzuki, and the U.S. dub produced by FUNimation has yet to announce a voice actor.

Fish-Man Island Arc

Nuru vs. Roronoa Zoro

It was during the New New Fish-Man Pirates coup of the kingdom and Conchcorde Plaza that Nuru attempted to stand out. When Nuru saw that Hyouzou was drunk and seemingly unfit to fight, Nuru saw this as his opportunity to climb the ranks in the New Fish-Man Pirates. He attacked Roronoa Zoro on his own, and he attempted to use his angler light to blind the famous swordsman. However, Zoro didn't need his eyes and sliced apart the light hanging form his head. As Nuru continued to boast about his number one status as a sword fighter, Hyouzou suddenly cut him down from behind.

Powers & Abilities

Angler Light

As a fishman, Nuru has an inherited natural strength that is incredible when compared to an average human being. As an anglerfish fishman, Nuru also uses the light attached to his forehead to blind his opponent to allow him to strike.

Swordsmanship

Nuru is a fishman sword fighter. He uses a giant sickle-shaped sword.
