A prominent anime timeslot on FujiTV, known for its particularly strong titles. The slot runs from 12:45am to 1:45am Friday morning (or Thursday night, as written in schedules in Japan).
FujiTV launched the noitaminA block in 2005. Its title is "Animation" backwards, and the intent of the slot was to try and reach an audience for anime outside of the male otaku and children's demographics. As such many of the titles have more seinen or josei leanings.
The timeslot originally launched as a single-show, half-hour block. On February 23rd, 2010, Fuji TV expanded the block to a full hour, and on April 15th, 2010, FUNimation announced that it would be simulcasting the timeslot. This North American simulcast seems in keeping with reaching outside the traditional anime demographic (e.g. Japanese anime fans).
