Ninja Ninja

Ninja Ninja is an interesting character in how he serves as a foil to Afro Samurai. Whereas Afro is usually stoic and serious, Ninja is relaxed and humorous. Afro is a man of few words, but Ninja rarely keeps his mouth shut.
 
Ninja Ninja was first seen after a traumatic episode in Afro Samurai's past, and seems to have become Afro's companion ever since. However, he never seems to take part in battle--in fact, he usually warns Afro about the dangers he faces and hides behind something whenever a fight is about to break out. He was spotted holding a kunai once, but only to spot an enemy sneaking up behind Afro in its reflection.
 
It is said that Ninja is a merely a fragment of Afro's mind, which would explain why he seems to be ignored or unnoticed by anyone other than Afro. However, he was able to sacrifice his own body to save Afro, when Afro fought Jinnosuke in order to reach Justice. Even so, Ninja reappears in his old form during Afro Samurai: Resurrection.
