Oh boy, let me tell you how powerful B.O. is as a weapon in tournaments like this. I know from experience.
See, I wrestled heavyweight in high school, which has a bracket that goes from 225 to 275 pounds. That meant I competed against 6’6 Ajaxs who’d be about 275 lbs of pure, lean muscle (sort of like our pal, Toguro) or doughy monstrosities who could sometimes even have man boobs on their backs. The former type could toss me around like a rag doll, and the sensation of that is still incredibly bizarre to think about, even close to ten years after the fact.
The more vivid sensory memory, though, is concerned with the latter’s primary offense - - their stench. I swear, I think a lot of those guys purposely didn’t bathe so as to heighten the power of that particular part of their arsenal. I can close my eyes and recall that very specific aroma. A salty, pickled onion. It was smothering. It’d be so bad that I’d want to give up and let myself get pinned just to remove myself from the match as quickly as possible.
So yes, Yusuke’s paper tiger opponent’s “sweat power” is probably the most realistic part of the show. Good lord…
Moving on… I get a kick out of how they gave the wind master a thick Irish brogue simply because he has red hair. Even if he weren’t such a gracious opponent already, I’d have a hard time hating a guy with an accent that ridiculous. The guy’s so gregarious, in fact, that I’m going to make another prediction and speculate that Yusuke’s going to form a team out of all these friendly foes later in the series. I can see it, now. He’ll have to face off against Toguro, but Team Urameshi will still be mending, so he’ll have to call on these unlikely allies for help. Believe it!
