Well, fans of the last game in the PlayStation FF trilogy need not pray to Shiva any longer. The Playstation Blog has just confirmed what everyone should have already guessed: Final Fantasy IX is coming to the U.S Playstation Store in the near future. There's generally been a two to three month gap between the Japanese and American PSN re-releases for FFVII and FFVIII, so I imagine we'll be sneaking Princess Garnet out of the castle in July or August. Final Fantasy IX was actually the first game I played in the FF franchise, so for all of it's flaws and awkward plotting, it still holds a special place in my heart. On top of that, it all makes for a good stylistic entry in the series, as it's fantasy-tinged-with-steampunk aesthetic hearkens back to the style of the original games in the franchise.
Will YOU be able to resist when Square plays it's nostalgia card this summer?
