WTF: Iron Man Kewpie Doll

Wait, really?

SERIOUSLY?

I like east-meets-west merchandising crossovers, and I know Japan loves Kewpies, but...Iron Man: The Kewpie Doll?

I've always thought Kewpie dolls were really creepy in general (and I usually have a high tolerance for stupidly cute stuff), but apparently as an early promotion for Iron Man 2, Rose O'Neill-- the company behind Kewpie dolls (named after their original creator) --has created a tiny Iron Man Kewpie doll.

...I...I just don't know. The words fail me. I mean, it's sort of cute...but sort of terrifying. I kind of want to take it home and be all maternal at it, but I also think it'll murder me in my sleep.    (Via anime!anime!.)

It DOES look like it would murder you in your sleep.
I don't understand why these things are considered cute.  I think they're horrid and terrifying.

Don`t worry about the murdering in your sleep thing. the worst he`ll do is empty your liqueur cabinet :P

Yes, it has that Chucky vibe, I think it's the eyes/eyebows.  Is it edible?  Can it be edible?  I'm less afraid of things I can eat.

Tony Stark isn't cute, he is a BADASS.  Thus, that Kewpie is just wrong.

@John_Martone: Is that a reference to Sunday's American Dad?

Not directly, I just enjoy using the expression, though its probably more frontally located on my brain due to that episode.
