WITCH CRAFT WORKS -- Winter 2014 Anime Surprise? -- THE VICE PIT

Sam's very taken with this new series [that isn't a harem show, at all] that seems to flip a few gender roles amid all the witchery.

Tom its not a harem Sam is right. At least so far.Tho other sites do list it as a harem.

It is the role reversal of the white knight saving the princes. At least at the start.

It does have amazing animation. Tho sorry its not sexy.

A fun suprise this season. Doubt it will blow up popularity wise.

But i agree it should.

Dark Twisturuuuuu!

I was already pretty interested in this show already (a J.C. Staff anime with magic? Well, I love The Familiar of Zero so why not?) but now I'm sold! I'll definitely check it out later, probably tonight.

Also hell yeah High School DxD! Tom would never approve of that anime though, way too much T&A. I like the fact that the male protagonist isn't a spineless wimp, he actually behaves more like a hormonal teenager would surrounded by a harem.

I feel the need to bring up the silent "x" argument here though since it plays into the name (DD... you know, as in boobs, double Ds, the joke doesn't play if you pronounce the "x" -- which isn't a letter x anyway, it's an × symbol -- it's just there for decoration as far as I can tell) just thought I'd point that out.

@Daniel_Newton: I to liked The Familiar of Zero. But Witch Craft Works is not the same over the top fan service that is High School DxD. Just stating that so people dont think they are similar other than high school an magic for the most part.

Oh no, I get it, it's all about role reversal. Anime and manga adheres to the same tropes all too often so I'm always down for that.

the show has been doing pretty good as of late. I enjoy the whole role reversal and the ending is pretty hilarious... and disturbing lmao.

The animation is great although the bunnies are weird as all hell. I would say I am enjoying this as much as Nobunaga the fool and Nobunagun.

I look forward to the next coming episodes.

When I heard white stuff, I recalled Astarotte's Toy for the moment. It's a good thing that Witch Craft Works doesn't go that route. It's good to see Dudes in Distress.

Edit:

Sam likes being vulnerable.

I think there is a witch that is a dominatrix or something.

Tom's expressions in this episode were pretty hilarious,Lol As for the show I shall precede with some caution, But Sam's description has me curious,

I thought it would be a croc at first, but after checking it out, Witch Craft Works was fun so far. I actually laughed way too hard when I heard that the tower witches were trying to get that "white stuff" from Honoka. I won't look at Mo Pain's "Meet Me at the Tunnel" the same way again either.

Like Tom Pinchuk, I thought it was a harem, too until DocHaus and Marshall Victory corrected me in the Witch Craft Works Discussion thread.

I feel that most folks make that harem assumption because there is a large female cast and a prominent male character who is a protagonist. There hasn't been anime series that had those features without that harem tag. For anime series with a large male cast and a prominent female cast, it's actually quite common.

  • Fruit Basket - it's not a reverse harem more like a love triangle. I could be wrong since I haven't watch Fruit Basket
  • Vampire Knight - We have a few female characters, but they're so minor. While the other woman serves as the antagonist.
  • Sailor Moon? - Nah, it was a weird show. Tuxedo Man was an outlier.

Oh crap, I can't think of series that have a large male cast with a prominent female character that are not reverse harem.

Witch Craft Works did a good job at being different with the whole gender reversal role and luring fans with its huge female cast.

Knows me so well.
