Winter Watch: Recorder and Randsell #7

Sayo has a crush on Atsushi... Someone should tell her that he's only eleven years old.

Atsumi wins three tickets to the movies for a "chick flick" and Atsushi wants to go. After so much begging on Atsushi's part, Atsumi allows him to go with her and Sayo. At the movies, Sayo expects to see two very short people as she waits for her friend and her little brother. Instead, she gets tall and handsome Atsushi.

If you've been following the anime for the past six episodes, you must be aware that confusion is a popular theme. Most character's misunderstandings establish a good precedent for comedy. This episode is no different, Sayo believes Atsushi is Atsumi's boyfriend at first, but after Atsumi clarifies he isn't, Atsushi interrupts. For the rest of their outing, Sayo never realizes that Atsushi is in fact Atsumi's "little" brother. Sayo doesn't put two and two together creating an obvious crush on Atsushi.

In the first episode we got a hint at Sayo's feelings toward Atsushi's appearance. While Sayo doesn't reveal them to anyone, the audience gets a clear, and funny, view of her crush. Something I was waiting for since episode one.

Verdict

The series is getting better. The repetitive and cliche gags are expected of anime with a plot like this one. The creators have managed to keep me interested up until now. I wonder if Sayo's feelings will play a part in the future again. Isn't it ironic that Atsushi is often accused to be a pedophile while Sayo has feelings for an eleven year old?
