When Manga Editors Fall in (Boys) Love

A BL manga gets a new anime.

Word on the streets is that Junjo Romantica mangaka Shungiku Nakamura's work Sekai Ichi Hatsukoi-- which features the occasional crossover with Junjo --is going to be adapted into a new anime series.

Junjo Romantica tells the tale of a guy who writes BL novels, and Sekai Ichi Hatsukoi starts out somewhat similarly: a man named Ritsu starts working as an editor at a shoujo manga publisher, and a man named Takano Masamune is the editor-in-chief. When Takano gives Ritsu a smooch, chaos ensues, and doubtless a lot of comedy as well.

Sounds like another fun comedy-- and as I recall, Junjo Romantica picked up quite a few male viewers who thought the show hilarious as well. Here's hoping for the same for Sekai Ichi Hatsukoi!

Junjo was pretty good. A little "precious" for my taste, at times, but some really funny moments too. I'll probably check this out.

You know, if there was a BL manga for me. This would probably be it. The concept just has a lot of potential, even though its probably going to be more mushy then gripping/hilarious.

@John_Martone: Hmmm, then you might like Love Recipe, which is pretty much pure comedy, about a dude who starts working as an editor at a yaoi manga publisher (not his intention), but is assigned to a BL mangaka who turns out to be another dude, who makes passes at him. I remember it being pretty hilarious, actually.
