When LOL Just Isn't Enough: Heaven's Lost Property Episode 2

Do you like panties? Do you like things that fly? Then here's something you might enjoy.

Flying Panties landing on Tomoki
Flying Panties landing on Tomoki

Have any of you ever thought flying panties would be funny? Probably not. Most would find it obnoxious. But what if such an occurrence was due to subconscious thinking? Then I think it would be ok. Besides, your eyes must be playing tricks on you. Panties flying beside a Blackbird doesn’t happen!

More to the point though. The protagonist, Tomoki, just wants a normal peaceful and quiet life. He doesn’t want any trouble despite being one of the most perverted anime characters I’ve seen. He’s right up there with Fukuyama from Girls Bravo. However, I’m sure I’d take liberties if I had a card that granted anything I wanted. Does that make me seem like a pig? Well it’s all in “good” fun.

I will terminate you.
I will terminate you.

In this second episode of Sora no Otoshimono ( Heaven’s Lost Property), we find ourselves looking at a typical harem where the childhood friend is the tsundere type who beats the hell out of the guy she likes to make herself feel better for seeing her panties. This show may not seem to have a plot, or even a good story, but if you relax and pay attention to the smaller details, you’ll find the characters wondering just what kind of powers Ikaros has with the transportation cards and the significance of the black spot known as “New World”.

Most of you must be wondering where the comedic element is in this episode. For me, it’s the fact that when Sohara tries to put on new panties-of any kind-they shoot off her legs and into the sky. It’s an extreme situation that’s funny when in fact it shouldn’t. This show is full of chibi and it just adds to the ridiculousness. Hell, Tomoki spends most of his time in that form. This is most likely to show when he is either determined in being manly or perverted.

Let’s not forget the innocent comedy of Ikaros since she isn’t from Earth and will do anything for Tomoki since he is her master. Or Mikako’s refreshing and devilish sense put behind what few words she has. Or even Eishiro’s matter-of-factly manner of explaining his theories. So despite the comedy being highly catered to boys and men, there’s a slowly growing story of interest.

Check out this episode "An Airborne Prismatic Panty Adventure" to see what I'm talking about.

Ahh...this takes me back to when I first watched this great series in 2009. The humor is priceless...from seeing Tomoki's various perverted schemes backfire in his face, watching Sohara beat the daylights out of him for his over-the-top antics, and the usual backlash of his schemes catching up to him always led to a good laugh. Great article on this wonderful series, Sotyfan16.

For those who have not watched this series, I highly recommend it if you are a big fan of Ecchi/Harems that are infused with lots of comedy and random moments that eventually involve all of the characters in hilarious ways as the show progresses.

If you enjoy the show and want to see more, I highly recommend that you give the Sora no Otoshimono manga a read. It has more plot-based, character-based, and story-related development compared to the anime series, and features several small stories/misadventures that were never put into either of the two seasons of Heaven's Lost Property.

@ShadowKnight508:

I was rather shocked to learn that Sora no Otoshimono didn't have any any of the manga series in the Anime Vice wiki. Well, I've taken care of that. I started the manga and the light novel profiles.

@FoxxFireArt: Wow...I just noticed that too. I will be getting to work on Volume One, Two, and Three after I conclude my first week of college tomorrow.

@ShadowKnight508:

Now, I posted all the light novels and manga volumes that are currently out in Japan. They are there for you to work on and your leisure

@FoxxFireArt: Thanks, FoxxFireArt. I will get to work on them tomorrow afternoon after I return from college. I have already begun to add the chapter titles and link characters to the Volume pages.

This is one of my favorite episodes, too.  I was completely surprised by the closing credits and somewhat mesmerized by the sight of flocks of panties circling the Earth.  All that made me rather sad (*sniff*) by their end in episode 5.

A great series, seasons 1 and 2. I am looking forward to a season 3.
