What Candy Should I Send?

Let's take care of our mangaka. By getting them hyped up on sugar!

So I don't know how many of you are familiar with the story of Jamie Lano, an American artist who has been working as an assistant to Takeshi Konomi, creator of Prince of Tennis.

Lano recently started a blog, and in her most recent entry she mentions that she and the other assistants and Konomi-sensei decided to try a bunch of American candy to compare it to Japanese (Lano says it's much sweeter). She notes that the Butterfingers were incredibly popular, and says that anyone who wants to send some in (or any other candy bars) for them all to try should let her know.

How could I resist a come-on like that? So, I've decided to try and pull together a care package of sweets for Konomi-sensei and company full of candy-- and I have to get right on it, before it starts to get too warm to mail out any chocolate.

So, what I need from you, my friends: tell me what candy to put in the package. Butterfingers are definitely going to be in there. But what about Snickers? York Peppermint Patties? Kit Kats? (Well, no, I wouldn't do that, because Kit Kats are pretty common in Japan, but you get the idea.)

I say the more obscure the better. Also any regional flavors of common candy bars that are US only are always cool.

Definitely York Peppermint Patties, and also 3 Musketeers Mint and Zero bars.

What about fudge from one of the many local shops in the Portland area?
Devillyon May 7, 2009 at 10:48 a.m.
Two votes for the fudge yay! XD

Classics for me include: Baby Ruth, Twix, Twizzlers (original variety), Spree, Sour Patch Kids, Nerds, Fun Dip, Candy Corn, Tootsie Roll Pops and traditional Tootsie Roll candy. Peanut Butter M&M's (I prefer them to Reese's Pieces), and Reese's Peanut Butter Cups.

Definitely 3 Musketeers.

York Peppermint, Reese's PB Cups, 3 Musketeers.

Charleston Chews! And be sure to mention that they are best served after sitting in the freezer for a bit. I'd also suggest Rolos, Cow Tales, Smarties, Whoppers, Mike and Ike's and other such candies.

It's becoming harder to find, but ZERO Bar would be my choice.  White fudge on the outside, with caramel, peanuts and almonds on the inside.
