It's now or never as Natsu and the gang try to stop the lacrima, the Exceed Queen reveals she's a fake, and Erza Knightwalker has had enough.

With time running out Natsu and co. ram head-first into the lacrima island to try to stop it colliding with Extalia. Gajeel stops his battle with Pantherlily to help, but not without reminding him that after this is over, he will make Pantherlily his cat (it's looking more and more like this is actually going to happen!) Unfortunately though, even with all their power combined it seems they're only delaying the inevitable. Pantherlily asks Coco why she's helping the enemy, to which she responds "I realized that I don't need eternal magic power! I'd rather have eternal smiles!" And I thought she couldn't be any more adorable.
In Extalia, Wendy and Carla are having no luck convincing the Exceeds that they're in danger, but that changes once the Queen herself shows up. During this time of crisis she's decided there's no point lying to everyone any longer, revealing not only that she has no Godly magic powers, but she's in fact a normal--and actually somewhat weak Exceed--with only one wing. Her only special power is the ability to see people's deaths, which the Exceeds used to their advantage. Queen Chagot apologizes for lying to everyone, and for the pain Carla's been through, giving her a sword to cut her down for her sins.
Carla doesn't do it of course, instead she yells at them all for giving up and flies off to help Natsu and the others. Inspiring the Exceeds, they follow suit and all push against the lacrima together, finally stopping it in it's tracks. Then Mystogan appears out of nowhere and sends the lacrima back to Earthland. Seriously... you couldn't have shown up ten minutes ago Mystogan? Would have saved a lot of trouble! Turns out Mystogan is a Prince here in Edolas, and Pantherlily had saved his life years ago, earning him banishment from Extalia for bringing a human there... I guess we needed to get Pantherlily's and Mystogan's back-stories at some point, right?
Cheers of victory change into gasps of horror though as Pantherlily is blasted through the stomach! Now that... I was not expecting. They better not have teased at Pantherlily becoming Gajeels cat only to have that chance shot down like a clay pigeon. Damn it Knightwalker! Why'd you have to do that? He was supposed to be on your side!
Episode Rating: 4/5
Another high 4 out of 5. It nearly did it, nearly got my first 5, but Mystogan just showing up like that, zapping the lacrima away so easily... just rubbed me the wrong way. This entire arc has been about trying to rescue everyone from that giant damn crystal. Having Mystogan just appear out of thin air and fix it all in seconds is just unsatisfying. The rest of the episode was excellent though, and the end really surprised me. Looks like the final Erza battle will begin next week, can't wait! What did you guys think?

On another note, there are a lot of flying cats!
@sotyfan16: Hey now, Coco is innocent and adorable, she is not touching Lucy inappropriately! My favourite cat is the one holding Erza, someone help the poor thing!
It would help if she didn't wear all that armor. But I totally got a kick out of the shot you got of him holding her up. Well, trying too.
@sotyfan16: Definitely made me laugh during the episode, made stitching that panning shot together worth it.
"Gajeel: I Want You"
Wow!
Darn. I should have put that young Mystogan smiling pic. I like it how everyone was celebrating, but Knightwalker just crash their party.
I agree with the Mystogan's magical show. The exballs that gave people their magic was too convenient. Before the exballs, I was trying to figure out why Lucy Heartphilia still had her magic. I thought it was her keys which is similar to Edolas' way of using magic via items. Then again, how is Erza Scarlet going to fight Knightwalker without her magic (if there was no exballs)?
@takashichea: I didn't mind the exballs. I thought it was kind of silly how Lucy forgot she was given one though.
A fun, yet a bit cheesy eps.
Watching a flock (?) of winged nyancats did make my day though.
Is the trail of light necessary? ;P
hmmm my theory of them slowly fazing out the anime exclusive magic circles for attacks seems to be wrong, ahhh well, they kinda grew on me I guess.
I still wish that for at least 1 episode or something that they can throw tons of money onto to the animation. I still don't think fairy tail has one 'great animation' eps just yet.

Yeah I thought that during this episode. I don't really mind either way, they look cool.

I've always though the Erza/Jellal fight was nicely animated, and overall I think the animation and effects have improved quite a bit since Fairy Tail started.
The ending was a massive surprise, but I now cannot wait for next episode! I'm guessing a lot of action, maybe a bit more story for Pantherlily, and maybe your first 5/5 rating! But who knows, we'll have to wait and see :P
