Appreciating a well-written villainy requires you to take a step back from your viewing experience. If you’re frustrated at what’s happening in the plot, if you’re annoyed that the bad guys have cheated to get the upper hand, if you’re shaking with the burning desire to see those bad guys out of the picture… then the writers are doing their job perfectly. The “villains you love to hate” are the ones who get all the attention; they’re the ones who get put on t-shirts and who kids want to buy action figures of. However, I’d argue that less-sexy, less-fun villains like Mr. Maverick are the harder ones to write though - - and they’re also the more effective kind of heel.
Man, I’m just dying to see Kotetsu put the hurt on this guy. I want him to pop that nasty wart on his nose.
I’m starting to suspect that Tiger might actually have a second NEXT power, himself. He’s obviously got Longshot’s dumb luck ability (or intuition, as he’d probably prefer to call it.) Seriously, he went through all the filibustering nonsense about getting matching pins to make that day at the ice rink memorable and, lo and behold, that’s what saves him from getting brainwashed. That’s what’s probably going to end up saving the day for everybody, too.
To shot-call the now-requisite American comics, this particular twist makes me think of the big Marvel story arc HOUSE OF M which was about all the heroes getting sucked into an world-gone-mad alternate reality. Wolverine somehow was the only hero who could remember the old reality and a big chunk of the plot involved him trying to shake the rest of the heroes out of their supernatural brainwashing. I suppose that adds another “meta” angle on Maverick’s retcon powers, then, since he’s essentially putting everybody on HERO TV into another 'verse.
Though I’d still have to say that doping everybody’s tea to get this business done is a significantly-less agro approach than what you would've usually seen in this genre. Just an observation, of course. Nobody get upset, alright?

At this point in the show Kotetsu's ignorance and naivety was really turning me off. I couldn't like his character anymore cause he was just dumb to not even get suspicious. I know the show is supposed to be a little goofy but that was too much for me.

Must rember to use that line in the future.Tho i have used eyeglasses of evil an spectacles of doom to describe my own glasses.None the less good points on the show.Imho Tiger has a healing ability besides his short term strength /invul burst .Which in some ways afects the way he handles things.More to the destructive side i think.Hes no batman thats for sure.
So wish they went with Hero TV for show name.But that would not reflect the shows goofy side tho i supose.

It was pretty funny how prominent those pins were shown in the first OP of the show when they actually were such a minor plot point item.

@Roldan: I think School Days was excellent, just beyond painful to watch. I've met no one watching School Days that doesn't absolutely revile Makoto by the fourth or fifth episode, and that makes the final episode all the sweeter. I'm not sure if the show intends to draw a finer line as to whether we're supposed to hate Sekai and Kotonoha as much as Makoto or not, as I've known some people who certainly sympathize with one or the other even at the show's finale. Otherwise, though, I think it's incredibly effective, and I think back on the show extremely fondly despite frothing at the mouth with rage while I was watching it.
I like how things- no matter how ridiculous- no matter how dragged or cut out they may seem in the show- are always pulled together in the end.

There's zero subtly and it lacks reasonable and logical character development that are far from the "realistic consequences" that fans of the show claim it depicts. I was frothing of rage not because I was engage with the material but because nothing made sense and no reasonable human being would ever act the way the characters behaved. I would further like to claim that the "consequences" depicted are just smut haphazardly placed in the show to drum up controversy to get people interested in the show to make it sell better. Which means, in my books at least, the creators of School Days are the worst type of people on this planet.

I'd rather want to watch better anime based on hentai games, like Air or Kanon.
@ZombiePie: School Days is definitely not subtle, I agree with that. I immediately knew not to take it as realistic, though; School Days is practically the school Kane & Lynch, Light Yagami, and Lelouch of the Rebellion graduated from, and by exaggerating the ridiculous I feel like they effectively highlight the evil of naïvete. If you're looking for realism, though, I agree that it would be absolutely enraging in an extremely bad way.
@Roldan: I won't disagree that Air and Kanon are better, that's for sure, but that's because I think those are two of the best series out there. That said, they also serve an entirely different purpose, as do Fate/stay Night and Shuffle!, so that's not really an appropriate comparison. Makoto being a sissy is pretty much the point of the show, and you're SUPPOSED to hate him.
@Turambar: There has to be a better way to depict consequences that doesn't involve sudden mental breakdowns that come at no warning. Is it wrong to ask for subtle character development with actions that are built up is a discernible manner? There has to be a better way of going about it. I have to believe there is.
