Wait a second. I thought people with glasses were supposed to be smart? How stupid/delirious did the guy in the beginning have to be to take off the mask of his hazmat suit right in the middle of of an irradiated zone? Actually, once again, I’ll pick the “phone in a friend” life line and ask you Anime Vice lunatics if the man in the beginning is the same construction foreman (or whatever) who Hei works for in the present? Did his sperm get irradiated from exposure in the place? Was that how he gave birth to a mutant… der… I mean, contractor?
You can’t have superheroes without heat vision, and I’m glad to see this comparison extended farther in this episode. I’m also amused to see that contractors seem to get powers the same way angels get their wings. Leaves dropping off a house plant might not be as beautiful as bells ringing, but it’s certainly just as whimsical, no?
I’m struggling a little to understand what Hei’s deal is. Yeah yeah… I’m sure it’ll get revealed eventually like these things do, but still, let me get this straight...
At night, he’s this badass assassin with dubious fashion sense who takes down superhumans. By day, he’s a working stiff who can’t even stand up to his boss? I guess it’s the old Clark Kent/Superman duality. Maybe he’s just laying low to get close to the new potential the guy’s daughter represents. As far as secret identities go, he's gotten off better than the black cat. Though, still, I thought mediums were supposed to be a different breed than contractors? If that’s the case, why is he exhibiting powers (that TV jolt, the snap-my-fingers-and-here-is-a-carnival trick) when he's supposed to be a negator or some such?
