I'm running around to get to the airport, so if I'm a bit spotty today, blame it on that guys. But I wouldn't let it stop me from getting out the news!
ICv2 has word that VIZ Media will be distributing its anime through Warner Home Video starting on April 1, with the first titles being Naruto Uncut Box Set #13 and Hunter vs. Hunter Box Set #2, both due on April 7. Don't let that date confuse you; Warner's going to handle all of VIZ's back catalog starting on April 1. Here's some word from VIZ's CEO, Hidemi Fukuhara:
“We look forward to joining forces with Warner Home Video and are confident that in working with their strength in sales and distribution, we will continue to grow the anime category even more effectively than we have over the last several years.”
What will this mean? Well, mostly better distribution for titles that are already the big'uns, like Naruto and Bleach and Death Note. But VIZ's not-so-big titles (like Mar and Hikaru no Go) will probably benefit as well. We'll see!
