That said, CWR also got comment from VIZ on the matter: “VIZ Media made the decision to stay consistent with the pricing in the marketplace for this industry, which in some cases might be a slight increase from previous years.”
One interesting note though: CWR says that Shonen Jump titles were $7.99, and Shojo Beat titles were $8.99-- presumably to try and make up for what is probably a smaller readership in most cases. Now they'll be priced the same at $9.99, even though the readership for Shojo titles may get even smaller with the closure of Shojo Beat.
...On the other hand, perhaps the price has been levelled out specifically to make the shojo titles more competitive with the shonen ones to the reader standing at the bookstore with a big pile wondering which desired manga to actually buy.
What say you, Vice? Do you think this might even out the amount of Shonen Jump/Shojo Beat titles that you buy? And will it make you cut back on the number of either?
