Vice Interrogation: ADV and Indian Summer

So, I've heard friends and readers refer to ADV as being more or less out of the game for a while now-- and just recently I had occasion to discover that ADV actually did release a brand-new anime amidst all the repackagings of past titles: Koharu Biyori, or Indian Summer, a romantic comedy ecchi anime. Naturally, I ran right out to pick up the DVD so I could tell you how it is.

If you can't watch the video, here's the quick sum-up: a great choice for fans of ecchi romantic comedies along the lines of Chobits and Mahoromatic, and/or people with cosplay fetishes. It's a very bare-bones release, though, so you may want to try and find it for a discount, or try to convince ADV to run it on the Anime Network.

And while I'm at it, a piece of news that fell by the wayside until reader Paploo mentioned it in the comments: ADV picked up the original Appleseed movie earlier this month, a rescue from Geneon.

So the next time you hear someone say that ADV is dead, defunct, or not operating-- correct them. Tell 'em I sent you.

I picked it up for $17.25 awhile back on dvdpacific.com. It's a fun series though I've only got to see one episode so far, I look forward to watching more of it when I can.

This was available on The Anime Network a while ago, but you had to pay to watch it - usually their shows are free On Demand, at least on my cable system.

Don't forget that ADV is releasing other new titles like Clannad & Princess Resurrection as well.  In fact part 2 of both those titles are due out next month.

@Adevanzo: They played Koharu Biyori for free on my OnDemand.  I guess it differs per provider/region.

Seems to be a pretty crazy show... dunno if it's really up my alley but it might be...

Protip: When using DVD footage in a video Gia, be sure to "deinterlace" the video when you convert it for your video editor to use. If you're using virtualdubmod, just go to video / filters / add / deinterlace. The default option should work fine.

(And if I'm coming across as being a smartass here for saying something you already knew then I apologize)

They got appleseed, cool stuff.

Maybe they'll get a blue ray release.
