Okay, so we all knew a voice cast for Vampire Knight was in the works, we just didn't know who'd be doing it. Given the immense boost Twilight has given blood suckers, of course VIZ is going to put some muscle behind Vampire Knight, maybe even aim for broadcast.
SO THEN, imagine the shock and terror that crosses the minds of fans alike as Vic Mignogna is announced as Zero, the cool, brooding teenager vampire hunter who is slowly becoming one.
Seriously guys? I've pretty much buried the hatchet, Mignogna has done some very excellent work (particularly as Mao in Disgaea 3,) but this is not the role for him. Sure, he does wacky youth pretty well, but there is nothing wacky about Vampire Knight, or Zero. Unless of course this dub is turning the entire show into a hilarious melodrama (Which would be awesome, but unlikely) then I don't see this being "the strongest choice."
Also announced was Kuran and Yuki Cross, voiced by Ethan Murray and Mela Lee, respectively. Ethan Murry is a new name to me, but has a strong stable of smaller parts in such series as Blade of the Immortal, Tenjo Tenge, and The Last Exile. Mela Lee, on the other hand, has the recognizable roles such as Rin from Fate/Stay Night, Darry from Gurren Lagann, and Rachel Alucard in BlazBlue.
Oh well, I'm glad its getting done, but where's Crispin Freeman when you need him?

This sounds like a means to push the title, because his voice is ALL WRONG for that part. I can imagine roles in the series that would fit him, but it's NOT Zero. Vic's a good actor, but he's only got a couple of voices, and none of them fit the character AT ALL. It wouldn't be the first time a show was miscast, though. But it's disappointing.
Diclonius beats vampire, maybe killer mermaids but i cant remember the name of that anime.
Yep.. I Like you New Guy.
No.
guys, dont be hard on the guy, he can play somewhat deep voices (yukito from air and ikaku from bleach)
dont be fast to judge (i should take my own advice too :P)
I think he is suitable for the role, but i usually like subs better than dubs.
btw doe anyone know when this will be released (vampire knight dubbed?)
Darn it all....
Am I seriously being tempted into buying Vampire Knight???
Though I do agree that Crispin Freeman would have fit better for a more serious role.
No date yet, but you can probably expect a DVD by August I'd guess.
@Count_Alucard:
heh
.. Vic. So let him go stoke his ego on another title.
Ok. I thought the same thing when I heard the news. I think he's better at playing funny characters. But, seriously Viz? Viz could have picked better people for Zero than Vic. I mean, I am a big fan of his, but, reeally? The funny thing about this is, at Sac-Anime, he was there. I was in the vendor's room standing right next to him. He was looking at plushies. He was looking at one, asking if it was Zero. I noticed and asked if he liked Vampire Knight. He said he "heard it was a good anime". He was also looking at keychains of Zero. SO at the Resimbool Rangers Dinner, me and my sister asked him if he was dubbing it. He told us that Viz was dubbing it. We clearly knew that he was a funimation voice actor, so we dropped it... until now. We now know that voice actors dont have to stick to one company for dubbing.....
