Fans of Steins:Gate rejoice, for there is a chance that this video game-based anime is not the only thing you'll get out of the S;Gfranchise. Peter Payne, JAST USA (licensor and distributor of English-language bishōjo games) president, confirmed in an interview with Silconera that there are talks with Nitroplus and5pb., Japanese software and video game companies behind the Steins;Gate visual novel, regarding an English release for the game.
With the involvement of both Nitro+ and 5pb in creating the Stein;Gate game, the process is harder for the US counterpart of the agreement. The possibility of the game being released in English is still in question, because they need both companies to agree on its release:
"We’ve talked with Nitroplus about the possibility of bringing outSteins;Gate in English, although it’s complicated as there are two different companies involved, i.e. Nitroplus and 5pb, and we need the agreement of both.”
Another problem that JAST USA might be facing is their need of a major download software distribution platform. Payne expressed his interest in Steam (a digital distribution, digital rights management, multiplayer and communications platform), a company that would help the game's visuals and prestiege. JAST USA is known for their 18+ visual novels, but since Steins;Gate is not adult-themed their chances of getting the download service approved is more likely.
Nothing has been officially confirmed and everything is still being discussed, but say that JAST USA were to receive approval from both Nitro+ and 5pb. Lets imagine that once approved from its original creators, Steam approves Steins;Gate for sale on their platform. Would you be interested in playing the game?

I'd definitely give it a shot- the concepts and mechanics behind the game seem interesting- and I liked the show a lot. I've thought about buying the iPad version available through the iTunes store- but I'd like the full translation.

I'd be way more excited if it wasn't from JAST. A couple of years ago they announced that they would release the School Days game. That still hasn't come out yet and it has no solid release date yet. Steins;Gate is probably going to be another forever never JAST release.
I would definitely buy this if it got an official release. It would be neat to see if the visual novel genre can gain more popularity outside of Japan.
I saw about half of the show before it disappeared from Crunchy Roll. I'd definitely like to see what this "visual novel" is.
He came back about a week or two ago and turns out he sold the project to JAST, screwing the rest of his team and making sure he's the only one to receive any profit from the deal.
I think it would be really cool to see visual novel games like this come to Steam. I mean, ideally I'd love it if all retail PC games ever became available on Steam, but it would be cool to see this particular genre.
I always wanted the Ore no Imouto visual novel for PSP to come out in English. I'd love to play that.

Hoho... I would want to try a visual novel. If it comes out it PC or PSP format, I would definitely buy it!
I kinda feel like a dick now for downloading this to my computer and patching it for English.
