Twin Spica Gets Dramatic

According to 2ch, Kou Yaginuma's manga Twin Spica, which was also adapted into an anime back in is being developed into a TV drama. The manga revolves around a girl named Asumi, whose mother falls into a coma and eventually dies as the result of a manned rocket crash-landing in their small town. Asumi is then visited by the ghost of the astronaut who was piloting the rocket and begins to dream of becoming an astronaut herself.

The drama is due to start this June and will star Minami Sakuraba, a 16-year-old actress who will also be voicing a role in The Girl Who Leapt Through Time director Mamoru Hosoda's upcoming Summer Wars anime movie with Madhouse.

It sounds kinda cute. I don't follow a lot of Jdramas, but I'd look into this one. 'Course, I never watched the anime-- how about you guys?

The anime was a heart-warming kind of fair. The main character, Asumi, was kind of the special kid that didn't fit in with society, with her strange brilliance and strong drive to become an astronaut yet all around kind of inept.

However because it ended before the story reached a major climax, there wasn't a lot of fanfare among fans. The manga went on for quite a bit further than the anime adaptation, but I don't know what happens there :S

Really catchy opening song...

I really enjoyed the series, but then I have a soft spot for things that promote space exploration.
