Anime/Manga News, Stories and Updates

Some time back, we all freaked out about the possibility of an anime based on Stephanie Meyers' Twilight novels. We were generally relieved to hear that the project wasn't actually underway-- it was just people misreading a joke in the commentary for the first film.

This, however, isn't going to turn out to be wrong. No, a Twilight comic book is in the works-- with art by Korean artist Young Kim (hence my calling it a manhwa in the headline, though the article specifically calls it “manga-style”), who will be inspired by the appearances of the actors in the Twilight films. Oh, and Yen Press is publishing it.

For the six Twilight fans who read this website, good news: Meyers herself will oversee “every panel of the new project.”

God, does this mean I have to try and go to the Twilight panel at Comic-Con now?

Seeing as even though it's being rendered by a Korean artist, the source story and writer involved is distinctly American. By that logic, I think the comicvine editors should have more to worry about with this than you, Gia.  : D

(We wouldn't ask you to cut off an arm, so please don't)

Well... the sparkliness of SHINY VAMPIRES can be mangafied?

That's the only plus I see. Actually, that's not even a plus.

I thought it before, and I'm thinking it now: shoot me.

And yes, Yen, please don't waste precious space in Yen+ on this.

This sucks.   The character style of this Manhwa drawing has no personality.   They should have used the Japanese artist who did the cover and illustrations for the Japanese Twilight novels.  Their character designs are much better and they capture the look of the characters perfectly, perhaps even better than the film.   As far as I'm concerned, the film is about a group of final fantasy cosplayers who trick the new girl at school into thinking that they're vampires... haha  Just kidding.

NO! The twitards have the books, the movie, and merchandise. Do they really need a manhwa!?
