As should be to no one's surprise, word along the grapevine is that the graphic novel adaptation of Stephenie Meyers' vampire soap opera self-insertion lovefest Twilight
has managed to sell more copies in a week than most comics do in their lifetime in the US: 66,000 books were pushed
. (That leaves Hachette/Yen Press with another 284,000 copies to sell, but I expect that they'll manage it.)
I won't go into great detail here, since we just posted our own Unscripted take on the book
, but I will say this much: Twilight is neither as bad as I expected, and at the same time every bit as bad. Hit up the video for more on that. But in the meantime, fear not, those of you with unnecessary levels of Twi-hate in your hearts: it's nowhere near the two million copies
that One Piece volume 57 managed to sell in a mere two weeks.
