Anime Vice News

Tuesday is Toyday 03/31/09

Are you guys tired of Nendoroids yet? I hope not, because I've got several items of news here.

First up, a full Nendoroid Zange-chan from Kannagi. I know you guys were pretty fond of that bunny Zange I posted a while back, so I'm hoping you like this one too, even if it's a bit less sexy. Zange-chan comes with a spider to scare Nagi with, and her very own for-sale sign (it says “Zange-chan! One-time payment of 100 yen”...I think).

And then there's this set of adorable little petit Nendoroids from Idolm@ster, five in stage costume and six in street clothes. Aww....

But wait, there's more! Danny Choo reports that Good Smile Company is creating a live-action movie featuring their blogger Asanon and titled “Nendoroid Deka” (or Nendoroid Cop), which looks hilarious and adorable. (And April Foolsy. Man, April Fools Day is the toughest day of the year in my job, I swear.)

It is April 1st in Japan, isn't it? That means you basically get two days of April Fools articles. Have fun with that.

Niko: It's a bit easier with American April Fools jokes-- easier for me to note sarcasm, off-the-wall jokes, etc. That's WAY harder to do with Japanese, for me anyway :)

Dangit...why is it that EVERY time I see a figure or something of Zange-chan I think "Yay! Finally an Asagami Fujino figure! Oh wait..."

But yay, more idolm@ster stuff to rob me of my money....as if the $15 in MS points per DLC song in the L4U game wasn't enough BandaiNamco...

Dig Deeper into Figures

A popular merchandise type in Japan is the "figure", which can be an action figure or a still figure, generally of an anime or manga character (although there are any number of original designs as well).
