It’s name is the “Lucky Dragon”, and it’s a sort of animatronic statue created for the Aqua Metropolis festival in Osaka. Do not worry, even though it can breath fire and maybe eat people off of bridges, it is very friendly and down to earth. This beast is created from a 15-meter aluminum boat by artist Yanobe Kenji.
If you are looking to see him (I’m assuming it’s a him), it will be roaming the waterways of Osaka until October 12. Here’s a fun fact (actually it’s a sad and depressing fact), the dragon is named off of the Lucky Dragon No. 5, a fishing boat that was exposed to the nuclear fallout of the Castle Bravo nuclear test on Bikini Atoll. About 23 people on the boat were contaminated, with one dead. This disaster helped inspire the Kaiju films, like Godzilla. After the festival, sources tell me, that the government will outfit it with guns and send it over to America as part of their robotic army corps.
