You had a chance to vote at the Vote for Your Favorite Anime in 2013! thread for a whole month. I don't think I saw your vote. For Psycho-Pass, they did mention in the video. It's 6th place.

  1. Attack on Titan
  2. Kill la Kill
  3. Gargantia on the Verdurous Planet
  4. Jojo's Bizarre Adventure
  5. Monogatari
  6. Psycho-Pass
  7. The Eccentric Family
  8. Magi: The Labyrinth of Magic
  9. Flowers of Evil
  10. Hunter x Hunter

For Magi, you can blame me, , , and because we heavily promoted Magi in the battle threads. This year, I targeted the battle threads, one of the most active threads in this community. They're mostly into Shonen shows.

metalsnakezeroon Jan. 14, 2014 at 1:24 p.m.

Flower of evil is a completely different beast than some average slice of life as it goes down some dark paths.

Matt purposefully mispronouncing One Piece near the beginning shouldn't have made me laugh as much as it did...

I'm ashamed to say I left voting really late and then completely forgot to do it (totally should have pinned the article in the forums) and if I had voted maybe The Pet Girl of Sakurasou would be a little higher on the list. That said, I'm very happy with the top three. Titan and Kill la Kill were pretty much guaranteed to grab #1 and #2, but the third spot was a little more up for grabs so I'm glad Gargantia got it.

takashichea moderator is online on Jan. 14, 2014 at 1:49 p.m.

@Daniel_Newton:

Oh crap, I forgot to pin. I'm sorry Daniel. I was heavily promoting it to the battle users during the half of the first month. Then, hitting it with Twitter. When Screened's Top TV Shows and Movie Poll came in, I was promoting that along with Anime Vice. FinalDasa also retweeted my message as well.

I believed we had about 50 people voted this year. I'm glad we had a huge voter turnout.

Edit:

God, I'm so scatterbrained. I forget that I'm a mod and I can pin stuff.

Daniel_Newton moderator on Jan. 14, 2014 at 2:33 p.m.

@takashichea: That's a good turnout. Don't worry about it, it only just occurred to me that we should have pinned it or I would have done it myself. Maybe one of us will remember at the end of this year :P

I do agree with you. It wasn't surprising that the top three shows would be Gargantia, Kill la Kill, and Attack on Titan given the hype storm that these shows had cause in Anime Vice. I'm surprised and glad that the dark underdog and underrated shows like Psycho Pass, Flowers of Evil, and Shin Sekai Yori got up there.

Ha, I honestly didn't notice while I was watching. Tom's Dragon Ball hair must have grabbed most of my attention!

suprised golden time got so low (19 or 17th, I think), considering how great it is. then again, it hasn't finished yet.

hitsusatsu11on Jan. 14, 2014 at 5:34 p.m.

For me it would be:

  1. DBZ battle of the gods
  2. Monogatari
  3. Railgun S
  4. Attack on Titan
  5. kill la kill
  6. JJBA
  7. watamote

@takashichea: Boohaha. It may appear as I have something against Magi, but I don't. Magi is just one of those series I have had the leasure of seeing through at the very beginning when I feel like I'm the only one who was reading it.

katmicon Jan. 14, 2014 at 11:57 p.m.

I have to disagree with everyone on Kill la kill which shouldn't even be in the top 10; that and the terrible jojo's bizarre adventure.

@Low You misread my comment. You and me play a role in promoting Magi.

Oh no thats not what I meant. I just said it in a way that sounded like I took it as offensive. lol I'm a Morgiana fan after all. =o Amon as well.

Good video although I missed Sam :(

Solid list. I didn't vote because there were a handful of shows that I knew would likely end up as contenders but I ended up not getting around watch. My votes would have been

Top Tier: Flowers of Evil, From the New World

Bottom Tier: Hunter x Hunter, Attack on Titan, Monogatari, Kuroko's Basketball, Chihayafuru

Most of my list ended up in there anyways so I'm happy with how things turned out. If anyone is curious about the numbers, you can view the full spreadsheet here.

Obligatory "Your anime tastes are shit! SHIIIIIIIT!" message.

Also, yeah, the top 2 matched up with what I expected would occupy those positions.
