TOKYOPOP To Supply More Suppli, New Licenses

I wasn't at TOKYOPOP's latest webinar, but Brigid was!

I wasn't able to listen in on TOKYOPOP's latest online webinar, but news abounded. Manga bloggers are rejoicing that the next volume of Suppli is back on TOKYOPOP's release list. But a bunch of new titles were announced as well. MangaBlog's Brigid picked it all up, so let's get going.

First off, the already-rumored Deadman Wonderland was confirmed. I don't need to tell you again that I'm interested in the dark sci-fi action series with art from the Eureka Seven mangaka-- and it's also geting made into an anime. Also up is Future Diary creator Sakae Esuno's Hanako and the Teller of Allegory based on a Japanese ghost story. Next up is the .hack collection: .hack//Alcor, novel .hack//Cell, .hack//4koma, and .hack//Legend of the Twilight omnibus edition.

I think that's it for new announcements, but it's worth noting that volume 3 of original Tpop title Vampire Kisses is due out, but original artist rem didn't do the art for the new volume. No word on why, so sorry Rem fans, though you may like the replacement-- Elisa Kwon.

Like in my interview, they reiterated that they have been preparing for the Kodansha announcement for some time, and all seems to be reasonably well for them.

That's great to hear that Suppli is coming back. Yeah, a guy reading a josei title might not be the norm but reading a more mature title can be quite enjoyable. Whenever it hits I'll have to reread the prior volumes to remember everything that was going on. BTW, I really like the Suppli artwork too, the style was different and cool.

@JohnnySake: I know a lot of guys who read josei and shoujo, at least on some level. Just like I read all sorts of stuff in every genre. ^_^
