I’ve got to think of a proper name to identify these little community-minded updates about my features. Some users have asked me to put these in a flashier place since they usually tend to get lost in the feed, so I’m grouping everything here in a handy and concise post.
Anyway, with CLAYMORE finished and TIGER & BUNNY and MUSHI-SHI very nearly approaching completion, it’s time once again to pick some new series for WATCH & LEARN. Of the pilots I’ve recently reviewed, here are the videos on the ones I’m most interested in continuing…
I’m also tempted to include SACRED SEVEN since it's currently airing on Hulu and hasn’t finished yet . I feel it’s important to strike a balance between new, currently-unfolding series and finished ones that fans have already formed strong opinions about, and I did very much enjoy the immediacy of viewing TIGER & BUNNY without any preconceptions. Thus, I’ll keep this talkback open to suggestions of new, legally-streaming anime shows. While we’re at it, if there are any shorter series (around 10 episodes or less) you want me to watch, go on and suggest those, too. After watching long form series for so long, I do feel like taking a break with some briefer ones.
It’d really be too complicated to wait until I got all the titles and then set up a poll, so I’m just going to leave the talkback open to all votes and suggestions. It may amount to some messy chaos, but I’ll sort through it all, I guarantee.
For the other matter of business, these are the shows currently on the docket for video review.
- RIDEBACK
- SOUND OF THE SKY
- CORPSE PRINCESS
- YU-YU-HAKUSHO
- DRAGONBALL Z KAI Vol. 6
- CLAYMORE (final thoughts)
- TIGER & BUNNY (final thoughts)
- MUSHI-SHI (final thoughts)
Offer up any questions you’d like me to address. I still have all your previous Q's in mind, but don't let that stop you from tossing some new ones up. As you've seen, I will answer them.

So whats the verdict?
Usagai drop I have heard good things about though I have not watched it. It would be good at generating discussion though I think as it goes into the Japanese concept of honor a good bit (it would also lead to discussions about children and raising them which might be a little out of our normal demographic).
Kenshin I can vote for...though I still say you should finish out steins gate..
Short anime I've recently enjoyed:
Usagi Drop - D'awww single dude raising girl. Ended week before last.
No. 6 - Dystopian future Inside vs. Outside. Ended week before last.
Kamisama Dolls - Folks from a village control wooden constructs that have various powers. Ended on the date of this post.
Ongoing anime I'm enjoying:
The Mystic Archives of Dantalian - Magic Books that have various effects when read. Girl has library inside her (oversimplifying).
Other anime I've enjoyed:
BAKA & TEST - Comedy w/ romance
Eureka Seven - Giant Robot action w/romance
Legend of the Legendary Heroes - Fantasy
Durarara - Urban setting, uuhhh...not sure how to describe it. Fantasy? Kinda. Action? Sometimes. Maybe someone else can describe it better.
I really enjoy reading your thoughts on series I've enjoyed, so I'm looking forward to seeing if you choose any of these.
No. 6!!!! It's really good. And it's new, only 11 episodes long.
Also, Durarara!!
I want you to do Ga-Rei: Zero. Please please please please.

Yu Yu's run on Adult Swim and Toonami was what got me into anime. It was the first show that I understood as such. Sure, this was back in 2002-2005 or something, but I'd say it still holds up (thanks in part to its fantastic dub).
