The Ultimate Ma-Crossover Concert

I wanna gooooo!

Sheryl and Ranka's voice actresses in a concert together is an awesome deal. But throw in Mylene Jenius, the lone male Basara Nekki, and the one, the only, Lynn Minmay? And you've got the ultimate Macross concert on your hands.

This precise concert is called Macross Crossover Live A.D. 2009x45x49, and will be held at the Makuhari Messe center on October 17th and 18th. If you'll be in Japan at the time, you can get tickets-- but it might be tough, since members of the official F-Tama club already have access through July 29th. The public gets access on August 22nd, and it looks like you can only get the tickets at a Family Mart ticket seller...I can't find a buy option online. So it's doable, but only if you're going to be in Japan for a while, or if you've got a friend there to help you out. Good luck!

For those of you less familiar with different generations of the Macross canon, here's what you need to know about each character. Consider this your SPOILER WARNING!

Lynn Minmay – sung and played by Mari Iijima
The original Macross songstress, Minmay's songs end the first war against the Zentradi, but her new-found celebrity leaves her exhausted and lonely. Spoiler alert: her disappearance four years after the events of the original Macross made her legend in the Macross-iverse.

Mylene Flare Jenius – sung by Chie Kajiura, played by Tomo Sakurai
A part-zentradi, part-human, she ignores her parents' wishes that she settle down with a pilot in favor of becoming a pilot herself. She's highly effective as a pilot, but it's apparently not enough of a rebellion for her, since she joins the rock band Fire Bomber as a bassist and vocalist as well.

Basara Nekki – sung by Yoshiki Fukuyama (also part of JAM Project), played by Nobutoshi Kanna (Fushigi Yugi's Tasuki, Getbackers' Ban Mido)
An orphan from the mountains of Japan, Basara Nekki bumped into an alcoholic pilot named Ray Lovelock, with whom he formed the band Fire Bomber. Basara is the frontman of the band, guitarist and main vocalist. He's also a remarkably talented pilot; his skills with jets paid off more in battle, but eventually his music came to b able to help humans regain their spiritia (spirit energ)y.

Sheryl Nome – sung by May'n, played by Aya Endo
Nicknamed “the Galactic Fairy,” Sheryl is the top pop idol of the galaxy-- and a former orphan girl, until she was picked up and placed into the experimental Fairy 9 project. Like Minmay, her music helps in a battle against an alien species-- the Vajra, this time.

Ranka Lee- sung and played by Megumi Nakajima
A young quarter-Zentradi amnesiac who lost her family and lives with her “brother” Ozma Lee. She wants nothing more than to become a singer and while her start is slow, it's quickly learned that her singing places the Vajra in a state of confusion, allowing them to be destroyed.
